why STILL so ill, omfg??! *cries*
1. Another day spent being sick in bed. God, don't even ASK me how sick I would be if I weren't already on antibiotics. Because, when I went back to the doctor at noon (part of the two hours I spent awake all day, I only got up for real at about 7pm at night), I was running a slight fever. Still coughing up green a few hours post-antibiotics. My nose is still completely stuffed-up, my back aches, and I fall asleep at the drop of a hat. This SUCKS. Not that I don't appreciate it, but I can't believe I've been on medical leave for three days now, and will be on MC for another day yet. Other than chicken pox in 2007, this is the LONGEST I've ever been out sick, at work or at school... as far as I can remember, anyway.

2. This doctor - a sleepy-looking woman - said no changed meds for me though. Apparently I'm on pretty strong antibiotics already. If I don't kick this and SOON, I have this nagging feeling that I'm going to spend all my time in NYC/DC indoors when I'm not in the theatre or travelling to the theatre. BUMMER.

3. Today, I decided to blame my current illness and suffering on this epic day of immense suckitude. That was a soft deadline, made because one of my (usually sensible) bosses was going on holiday on Saturday and wanted to clear the draft on Friday. So I busted my ass with it, worked 'til 5 in the morning, and drove back into work by 10 to make sure everything was okay. Clearly, assuming that I could do this as I HAD done this for days on end for a couple of months back in September/October was the WRONG assumption to make. *grumbles*

4. Did manage to get a little flailing in once I struggled awake, however. Just watched two more episodes of 30 Rock, which were HILARIOUS - that whole Jenna as a werewolf-lawyer on Night Court thing cracked me up SO much, even though it totally made me cough right after.

5. Also finished Book 3 of the Stravaganza series, City of Flowers. OMIGOD GUYS. SAKDALDLHDLHALDALDHLADA. Such an epic EPIC fantasy series. I kind of want to go and visit Italy now that I've read these books... I guess I should count myself lucky that I HAVE visited so many of these places, in fact so recently - back in December 2007, when my family took an epic tour through Italy and went to Venice, Siena and Florence, the places all referenced (so far) in the series. (My Goodreads review)

6. Then, while browsing my flist, I came across this on [info]merylstreepfans:

Geez. As if it isn't depressing enough how talented she is, being, y'know, the most Oscar-nominated actress in the history of EVER, Meryl was more accomplished at the age of 18 then I think I ever will be, EVER.

7. I was debating whether to be shameless and decided, what the heck. I need some cheering up. Play along with me? But only if you want to, of course:

THE ICON TESTIMONIALS MEME

8. And now, back to bed with me. Please god let me heal faster than this. PLEASE.

9. ETA: ARGH. I don't have photoshop on this computer. BUT. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, [info]lfae, WHEREVER YOU ARE. I hope you have a great one. And I know I should have connected the dots earlier, but HEY. You share a birthday with my brother! XD Can't wait to see you in just over a week!!!

Wow, if she was in my high school, I probably would have hated her. Heh.

I think so too. Talk about Queen Bee - she was homecoming queen and just about EVERYTHING ELSE. NUTS.

Awww, thank you!

1. At this rate, you won't have to go to work until you get back from the US! Yay?

3. I blame my escalated illness on Mary-Louise Parker. Hmph.

5. I wish it weren't "wintry mix"-ing outside, because I would go get that series in order to entertain myself until crazy fun things happen this weekend, but I'm daunted by precipitation. Fast-forward to Saturday, plz?? I'm bored...
ellixian: Julia | Adorkable[info]ellixian on January 7th, 2009 06:33 pm (UTC)
1. That's definitely one of my considerations!! I'd be happier about it if there weren't a bunch of reviews I've been sitting on for months that I feel really guilty about not having done. ARGH. Work sucks. :( But will not let that get me down.

3. I have to blame mine on work, so yours is a lot more glamorous. Go with that. ;)

5. I can't believe it's SO SOON! You'll be at Gypsy, right? Maybe we can meet before the show, at least before we go in, so we can say hi? I can't believe it's soooo soon. Are you meeting the Lana on Saturday?
llyfrgell[info]llyfrgell on January 7th, 2009 06:37 pm (UTC)
1. Don't feel guilty about work! You practically kill yourself for that job - it's not like you could do MORE.

3. Somehow I think it is not so glamorous since she didn't actually come out and I was just standing around for no reason. Oh well.

5. Soon, but still far! I have three days to kill before any of the cool stuff! Lana is staying here Saturday night and I think she's getting here around 2pm. Eeeeek. And yes, I'll be at Gypsy with my friend Wes - we can play it by ear and see if you feel well enough/awake enough to have lunch/coffee before the show or if you just want to sleep in order to conserve energy for the epic day of epic. At the VERY least, we can meet up at the theater and say hi!
ellixian: Julia | Squee![info]ellixian on January 7th, 2009 06:42 pm (UTC)
1. Have I told you how much I heart you guys? You help me keep my perspective on work of FAIL. I should just come and chat, but this is really going to be last comment. It's super late - though not by my usual standards, and I want to sleep this illness OFF.

3. Let's keep that between you and me, plz. ;)

5. Oh my goodness, EXCITEMENT. That's kind of... SQUEEEE. I probably would want to sleep in pretty late that day, since it involves three shows and staying up 'til 1-2am, if not later. But late lunch would be great if I can get up. Otherwise, I'll hang out with you at Joe's, and definitely pre-Gypsy. BTW, this is just completely hypothetical, but if I can't work out a key situation with my friend for Sunday night, would it be okay to have your place as reserve accommodation post-Joe's? I warned her I'd be home late from the theatre, and she's fine with that, but post-Joe's could be later than even she's prepared to deal with! Totally just in case, of course. I'm sure I can get the spare keys.
llyfrgell[info]llyfrgell on January 7th, 2009 07:00 pm (UTC)
1. With Leslie and Lana out of their usual countries and you actually trying to sleep, Gchat has been very empty recently. Which makes sense, you know, since this is when I'm actually off school and can stay up until all hours. ;-)

5. You can totally use my place as backup for Sunday night! It wouldn't be inconvenient at all, particularly since I'll be out late at Joe's too. *not-so-secretly runs a hotel*
ellixian[info]ellixian on January 8th, 2009 04:22 pm (UTC)
5. THANK YOU. ♥ That will make sorting out keys with my sis and friend a lot easier on that day, at least. And I won't have to wake them up!

Also - I just... errr, assumed that you'd want to join us for a big dinner on Lana's first Saturday in NYC. At El Centro. That's... okay, right? *weeps* I'm sorry for being presumptuous, feel free to say no!
Mirka☮: San Sebastian - Whaaaat?[info]unwisetrack on January 7th, 2009 06:32 pm (UTC)
I think that if I had go same school as she did when she was young I would probably had some change to be her friend/'friend'. Why? Well, I wasn't the cool kid but I was best friend of the coolest kids.. :D

But she can put you depressed.. when you realize that you haven't accomplished anything.
ellixian: Meryl | Classic[info]ellixian on January 7th, 2009 06:34 pm (UTC)
Pretty much - I don't necessarily think she'd have been one of those snotty popular kids who was mean to everyone uncool, but man. I'm so uncool I wouldn't have dared to get anywhere NEAR her in the first place. Talk about intimidating!
Mirka☮: Meryl Streep - Inside Actor's Studio OMG[info]unwisetrack on January 7th, 2009 06:43 pm (UTC)
That's true. I have nice memories from that time because I really was the uncoolest person in the whole school. The weirdest and.. oddest. But because my good connections with the coolest kids I was left alone, those who wanted to be the coolest kids didn't want to sacrifice their changes for making my school time horrible because that would mean that they wouldn't ever be the coolest kids. Haha.

Oh, Meryl. Actually, if I didn't adore her that much, I'd kinda hate her now. LOL

BB, feel better soon! Crossing all my fingers and toes and everything crossable that you'll feel better in NYC. *squishes you*
ellixian: Meryl | Dork[info]ellixian on January 7th, 2009 06:54 pm (UTC)
Ha, I think she'd have been the girl everybody loved to hate - how can one person have done SO MUCH?! Insanity. But yeah, my love for her pretty much outweighs all the jealousy. ;)

Thank you! I hope just BEING in NYC will make me feel better. I'm EXCITED.
momentsofbeing4: Ad:Susan[info]momentsofbeing4 on January 7th, 2009 08:34 pm (UTC)
Looks like Meryl was one very accomplished young lady :) I bet she would have been SO intimidating. I always find people who are SO successful pretty scary!!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you get better before your holiday, because i've just spent my whole New Year holiday feeling totally run down and generally rubbish, it's not fun at all :(
ellixian: Meryl | OMFG![info]ellixian on January 8th, 2009 04:24 pm (UTC)
I wouldn't have expected anything less of Meryl - the overachiever. ;) She'd have been the NICE kind of intimidating though. Kind of the way she is now. XD

Thank you! Keep those fingers crossed, I'm still a little under the weather, which upsets me. Sigh. I'm sorry you were sick during YOUR vacation, boo.

Sal shares a birthday with my brother too!! Weird ;)

Points 1 through 3 on this list suck - I so hope you're feeling a bit better by the weekend, although seeing Julia while high on meds would probably make the experience even more fun and trippy.

Point 4 on the list is much better ;) Night Court!! And you're so close to being caught up now! We can discuss it next week. And will clearly be going back to the NBC shop with Lana to see if we can score more/better 30 Rock stuff.

Finally, it bears repeating again today that you rock hardcore xD
ellixian: Tina | LOL![info]ellixian on January 8th, 2009 04:31 pm (UTC)
OMG, I forgot that our brothers share birthdays! How weird!!

I am seriously bummed by this illness - it was bad enough for YOU, poor thing, when we were in NYC in the middle of summer. I'll have to keep myself in a heated closet somewhere in NYC if I keep sniffling the way I do! *weeps* Ahahaha, Julia on drugs. SHOULD BE FUN.

Honestly caaaan't believe we're meeting so soon. *flails at your Tina icon*

MUCH LOVE FOR YOU.

Feel better cause traveling when you're sick is hell. :(. If you are still in a bad way when you get to New York, I think we can try to make the food come to you. Not much of a consolation, but.. chicken soup in bed. *nods*
ellixian[info]ellixian on January 9th, 2009 03:11 pm (UTC)
I'm an hour away - less! - from leaving for the airport, OMG. I STILL can't believe it's happening and I've been packing all night!

You are remarkably sweet and I am hoping that I CAN brave the cold (both mine and the weather) and be outdoors more... though right now I'm actually a bit ascared of venturing out too far, as I get cold in SINGAPORE, WTF, which doesn't bode well for NYC!

SEE YOU SOON. Have a fun time in Morocco.... errrr, camel-riding? D: Stay in one piece!
ireadtolive[info]ireadtolive on January 9th, 2009 04:44 am (UTC)
1. This bug got you good. All fingers crossed that flying doesn't force the crud into your ears. I lost hearing completely in one ear for two months due to that. (OK, you didn't need to know that. Sorry.)

5. Thanks for putting me onto this. I'm always looking for good, new (to me) fantasy and trying to scope out books that might be great for my daughter eventually. I'll squirrel these away for the future. She's almost nine, and loves things like Howl's Moving Castle at this point. "In which Sophie expresses her feelings with weed-killer..."

6. Did the girl ever sleep? She's so nice/funny/smart/adorable that it seems only right she was such a winner even then.

Feel better soon, and have the best time ever in NY and DC! I love both; lived in DC for 5 years and it's one of my favorite places. I hope you're prepared for nasty, bitter weather? NYC can seem like the coldest place on earth. Travel safe.
ellixian: Julia | Thank You[info]ellixian on January 9th, 2009 03:07 pm (UTC)
1. Urgh, it really really DID. I'm still not over it, and am kind of bummed as a result. But well. I guess there are worse illnesses to come down with at the last minute. All things considered - I'll take this one? *sigh*

5. DO look it up! It's hard to find really impressive young adult fantasy these days, and I think it'd be good for your daughter. :) Maybe a few years on from nine, though. Ahem.

6. I agree with pretty much EVERYTHING you have to say about Meryl, for she is that awesome. ♥

Thank you! I will try my best to enjoy myself as much as HUMANLY possible. I'm very excited for all the theatre, especially. That's the point of the trip for me, in a lot of ways, and at least that's one thing I can do even when sick. Sit in theatres and marvel at other people singing. ;)
