1. Another day spent being sick in bed. God, don't even ASK me how sick I would be if I weren't already on antibiotics. Because, when I went back to the doctor at noon (part of the two hours I spent awake all day, I only got up for real at about 7pm at night), I was running a slight fever. Still coughing up green a few hours post-antibiotics. My nose is still completely stuffed-up, my back aches, and I fall asleep at the drop of a hat. This SUCKS. Not that I don't appreciate it, but I can't believe I've been on medical leave for three days now, and will be on MC for another day yet. Other than chicken pox in 2007, this is the LONGEST I've ever been out sick, at work or at school... as far as I can remember, anyway.

2. This doctor - a sleepy-looking woman - said no changed meds for me though. Apparently I'm on pretty strong antibiotics already. If I don't kick this and SOON, I have this nagging feeling that I'm going to spend all my time in NYC/DC indoors when I'm not in the theatre or travelling to the theatre. BUMMER.

3. Today, I decided to blame my current illness and suffering on this epic day of immense suckitude. That was a soft deadline, made because one of my (usually sensible) bosses was going on holiday on Saturday and wanted to clear the draft on Friday. So I busted my ass with it, worked 'til 5 in the morning, and drove back into work by 10 to make sure everything was okay. Clearly, assuming that I could do this as I HAD done this for days on end for a couple of months back in September/October was the WRONG assumption to make. *grumbles*

4. Did manage to get a little flailing in once I struggled awake, however. Just watched two more episodes of 30 Rock, which were HILARIOUS - that whole Jenna as a werewolf-lawyer on Night Court thing cracked me up SO much, even though it totally made me cough right after.

5. Also finished Book 3 of the Stravaganza series, City of Flowers. OMIGOD GUYS. SAKDALDLHDLHALDALDHLADA. Such an epic EPIC fantasy series. I kind of want to go and visit Italy now that I've read these books... I guess I should count myself lucky that I HAVE visited so many of these places, in fact so recently - back in December 2007, when my family took an epic tour through Italy and went to Venice, Siena and Florence, the places all referenced (so far) in the series. (My Goodreads review)

6. Then, while browsing my flist, I came across this on [info]merylstreepfans:

Geez. As if it isn't depressing enough how talented she is, being, y'know, the most Oscar-nominated actress in the history of EVER, Meryl was more accomplished at the age of 18 then I think I ever will be, EVER.

7. I was debating whether to be shameless and decided, what the heck. I need some cheering up. Play along with me? But only if you want to, of course:

THE ICON TESTIMONIALS MEME

8. And now, back to bed with me. Please god let me heal faster than this. PLEASE.

9. ETA: ARGH. I don't have photoshop on this computer. BUT. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, [info]lfae, WHEREVER YOU ARE. I hope you have a great one. And I know I should have connected the dots earlier, but HEY. You share a birthday with my brother! XD Can't wait to see you in just over a week!!!

1. Happy birthday, [info]dividingday! Hope you have a marvellous day. :D

2. Dude, LJ, why are you so fucked up? What is with the seriously fugly and stripped-down posting/commenting options these days?

3. Omigod SO ILL. It's one of those maddeningly slow illnesses - the annoying creeper version rather than the kind that just explode all over you - so I woke up on Saturday (at 5pm, go me!) with a slightly worse cold and cough, my voice a little bit gone. Thankfully I didn't sniffle at all throughout the show (so my audio should be clean). And I get up this afternoon (surprisingly, at 1.30pm!) and I'm done: the snot is green, I'm sneezing, and ARGH.

4. I'm supposed to be meeting a friend of mine from uni (who's now based in Taiwan and brought his wife over here for her birthday weekend), but I'm soooo lazy about it. I can't even pretend to be ill as my plan for today is to go out and catch up on movies since I can't do anything much else.

5. Though, then again, my back aches from the being ill. Yuck. I guess that doesn't matter though, as long as I don't fall asleep during the shows?

6. I got a full tank of petrol for under $70 yesterday. WTF. That's, like, almost a 20% drop in what I USED to pay. \o/

7. I was SO remiss yesterday in posting about the concert I went for. I was catching up on some internet flailing (mainly of the Mamma Mia variety), and then I fell dead asleep. Anyways: I haven't seen Emil Chau live since I started this LJ, so you guys have NO IDEA how scary my flail over him can get. Ahem. In other words, consider this fair warning that what follows is INCREDIBLY self-indulgent and flaily, and so is best kept under a cut: WTF IS THAT AMAZING. ONE OF THE BEST CONCERTS I'VE EVER BEEN TO EVER )

8. Anyways, audio will be tracked. Once I get around to tracking Act II of Wicked and STOP listening to this one song over and over again, argh.

9. And then I caught up on everything I've not been reading over at Simply Streep, and AIEEE. Meryl is on the cover of Entertainment Weekly! I HOPE that they're selling both covers and she isn't just on the subscriber's copy or something, because I do NOT want cover with Twilight boy. DO NOT WANT. Must haunt bookstores over the next week. Also, these pretty much made my life: Meryl on Obama and on religion. Can I be this smart and together when I grow up, plz?

10. Man. That took me almost 1.5 hours. O_O I'm going to stop now. :P

1. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, [info]sunspawn!! Have a GREAT day, hon. ♥

2. WTF MOSQUITOES. How long are your lifespans, SERIOUSLY.

3. Okay so I'm not a narcoleptic after all. Guess you guys were all right on that count. :P Five hours of sleep last night - I was REALLY good and went to bed at 2.30am yesterday - worked out pretty well for me. Did not prevent some epic sleepiness at work, but those usually coincided with, you know, the mid-morning and mid-afternoon moments when it would probably happen anyway. I'm so enamoured of this 'getting enough rest' thing that I'm actually going to go to bed again! Before 2.30am! Why, soon I'll be sleeping at 10pm! (Although first I would have to leave work by 10pm in order for that to happen, hmmm.)

4. I have not been remiss in my Julia/Broadway love. REST ASSURED. thoughts on Keys )

5. IN THAT VEIN. Guess what I'm going for in January? :D Scott will be having a CD release party at Birdland on Jan 12 - I've already booked a table for [info]weazel_luv, my sister and myself. XD I'm not counting on Julia being there (the guests haven't been announced yet, for one thing, and for another, I refuse to set myself up for a disappointment), but if he gets HALF the people on his CD to turn up, it'd be awesome - hai, Norm? Heidi? Sutton? And Lisa and Megan? YES PLZ I WANT SOME OF THAT SINGING AWESOME. So yeah, I'm excited. :D Thanks, [info]irnbruise, for helping with the booking! :D

6. OH HAY. New Julia google alert! I love that she bawled Seth out over the car thing, mwahaha. Way to not read your own emails, Seth. I got inordinately excited about the fact-drop that she played Bianca in Kiss Me Kate in her first professional production because OMG the thought of Julia singing Too Darn Hot is, well, TOO DARN HOT. Except I keep getting the movie mixed up with the stage production - Ann Miller sang (and danced a ridiculous tap number to) Too Darn Hot in the 1953 film, but it isn't actually sung by Bianca onstage. BOO. GOT ALL EXCITED FOR NOTHING. Not that I'd actually ever be able to HEAR Julia sing Too Darn Hot, since this was millions of years ago - but well, the idea was nice while it lasted.

7. 30 ROCK, ZOMG!! I've decided to use my mealtimes productively by finishing up Season 1 of the show (so that I'll have a chance of catching up to Season 3 sometime in this millennium) when I haven't got new episodes of The Colbert Report to keep my food company - and EEK. Fighting Irish was a HILARIOUS episode. MOLLY SHANNON! I love Molly Shannon. I also loooove Tina Fey (I LOVE that moment when she sighs and says she needs to go and talk to her food, LMAO) and Alec Baldwin. (Who was randomly awesome as a slightly decidely evil lion in Madagascar 2, btw. Can you imagine the amount of flail that will ensue in my head when more news on his next movie starts leaking out?) Am really bummed that the box set for Season 2 isn't on the shelves here yet, or I'd just get that and save on download time. ARGH.

8. Now I'm watching Ann Miller sing and dance. Fuckity. I hate that she never danced WITH Gene Kelly. (They were in On The Town together, so he choreographed for her, a bit, but they never danced together. Instead he danced with Debbie Reynolds and Vera-Ellen until their toes bled - literally.) I think she's the only female tap dancer who could match him step for step and tap for tap. She's AMAZING. (High praise, from me, for I have fandorked Gene - and Fred Astaire, though to a lesser extent - for A LONG TIME.)

9. How's this for cheesy-awesome Broadway dance number? :D I think Madeline Ashton needs to be on Broadway RIGHT NOW.

- I looooove how this HUGE splashy production number goes from jazzy Broadway and sizzling tap to DISCO (it starts to go south at about 2:48!), LMAO. It's so bad it's AWESOME!
- Meryl does Marilyn! and belts! ♥ And awww, dumpy!Goldie and totallynerdy!Bruce Willis!
- FAVOURITE dance moment: 2:05! So sassy!
- Oh, Death Becomes Her, ILU. You so awesomely cheesy. I need to watch you again, stat.

10. Okay, how did I get distracted typing this for an HOUR?! AUGH. BED NOOOOW.

11. ETA as my iPod syncs - yoga yesterday broke me. *weeps* I can't straighten my arms without them hurting. WTF. I don't even remember what it is I DID to get them that way!

1. Oh god, I was the laziest bastard at work EVER today. I don't even KNOW what I was doing. I mean, I read everything I had to and am all caught up from the weekend, which is awesome. But I'm pretty sure I spent at least three hours ASLEEP. FAIL. Not to mention the time I spent spazzing online. You know, THIS is why I still leave work at 10pm even when there isn't work to do. Because I FAIL IN AN EPIC WAY.

2. And I was lazy. I figured I could go for yoga, or a swim, and did none of those things. Instead, I had potato chips and cookies for dinner. WHAT IS THAT. ARGH. Although Sunday's yoga did break me a bit - I'm achier than I have been for a while, possibly because I slacked off on yoga a bit last week. Boo.

3. Man, I am a dork and love tracking, but this Lee Hom concert is loooong. (Also, full of squealing fangirls.) I always forget how spoiled we are by Chinese pop musicians. Their concerts last anything from 2.5 to 3.5 hours! When Gwen Stefani came a few months (was it a year?) ago, and did an eighty-minute set, I was all, like, what is UP with your faily lack of stamina, OMG. :P

4. Eek. While my computer was down, I FAILED and missed out on birthdays! So, happy belated birthdays to [info]girlie_girl_23 and [info]fiddlings!! (BTW, TIFF: watch this video if you haven't already. I LOVE IT when the reporter right at the end tells Meryl she looks 25 and she looks utterly shocked and then goes, "You're so far in the back though!!")

5. I was tagged for a meme by [info]kelbelle - I promise you much LOLZ with one of my answers. Well, it amused ME anyway. 15 questions )

6. And now I GOTTA GO TO BED, REALLY REALLY. AIEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Catching up on comments tomorrow. That's the plan, anyway.

7. P.S. does it make me dorky that I'm thinking of taking the day off on Wednesday so I can watch the US presidential election live? I did that throughout the night back in university for the 2000 election - one of the most fun dork-nights of my life EVER, since I stayed up literally all night in the junior common room in my college and then went straight for an American politics lecture completely ABUZZ with the non-results of the Bush/Gore election and what it all MEANT. And I watched the 2006 midterms from my cubicle (the TV used to be right in front of me). I don't even know WHERE the tv is now that we've moved offices. So yeah. Big dork here was thinking of taking the day off. I DO have to take my car in for servicing too, so I'm not being UTTERLY NERDY here. Still... am a dork. I should... embrace this, yeah?

1. OMG I HAVEN'T POSTED IN THREE DAYS. WUT. Have you guys missed me? (Don't answer that. :P)

2. Thank god for a weekend of considerably LESS fail than the week that preceded it. I spent it... sleeping, flailing, running errands, and most importantly, did NOT go back to work as I had originally intended to. Which means I'm going to DIE tomorrow, and possibly over the next five days. But at least I got the time off to chill out. I needed that. Really a LOT.

3. Started Saturday off with a late-night supper with [info]noldoparma (what, I left work at midnight, that counts as Saturday, right?!), then ended up sleeping at 7.30am *cries*... but managed to get up to run errands and even go for yoga! Which KICKED MY BUTT. I guess I thought I had hit a point when I COULD handle at least the basic class and not want to completely die during the process... but turns out it REALLY depends on the instructor you get! I was kind of tired (duh), and so I figured I'd go for an easy class - and for some reason, I thought the instructor I had selected was one I'd had before, who was pretty chill during the lesson. WRONG. This guy was INSANE. I wanted to weep DURING the class, and am still hurting from it now. Which is GOOD, I guess. But but. *cries*

4. Then, since there are literally NO movies I actually want to see in cinemas this weekend (Nights In Rodanthe, what?!), I decided to have a nice little TV night all to myself. I brought food home (and OF COURSE proceeded to spill sauce all over my bedsheets, argh!), put Pushing Daisies on... and LOVED IT. Well, what I saw of it, anyway. Because it turns out I was SO TIRED that I fell asleep during the second episode! By the time I woke up it was noon...

5. ... and by the time I woke up AGAIN, it was 4pm! *cries* This time it really WAS just a matter of being completely tired out though. Because I think I drifted off to sleep at about midnight or 1am. Which means I crashed for 14 hours or something?! Certainly I was planning to watch MORE TV (i.e., House, PD), but I DIDN'T. *weeps*

6. Then I woke up. AND OMG TINA FEY. ON SNL. AWESOMENESS. Predictably, there be TINA FEYLIN ICONS. But after that, I watched the OTHER scene on SNL with Palin, and cried/died laughing. Amy Poehler KICKS ASS )

7. Also, Sarah Palin in the White House, as linked to me by [info]irnbruise, is a LAUGH RIOT. So much fun to be had by clicking everywhere. Suffice it to say I've spent far too long on this site. Click on the door MORE THAN ONCE, kthx.

8. And hai, guess who ELSE has been busy this weekend? That's right! Julia Murney!! ) XD

9. Did anyone else wonder why Cheno's Xmas album was named A Lovely Way To Spend Christmas, but did not feature that song on the album? Bah. Turns out the iTunes version has TWO EXTRA SONGS. I downloaded, of course, and am sharing to spare y'all the full download. ( A Lovely Way To Spend Christmas | The Lord's Prayer )

10. Can I say that Sendspace has been MAJORLY hating on me lately, so y'all should be grateful for my perserverance. It took me ALL this evening to upload Cheno, and all of last night to get Julia/Julie through the servers. (Then I fell asleep and couldn't post yesterday, fail.)

11. FINALLY. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, [info]teh_maskmaid!! Hope you have a FABULOUS day, and that the new Cheno tracks add to everything else good that I hope comes your way today! ♥

12. So... you guys think I did good in coming back from my three-day hiatus?! ;) I also spent AGES this evening catching up on my comments, btw. Like, HOURS. *cries* But I'm all caught up and I think I shall go to bed now. Another work week beckons. *sobs*

1. You know you're addicted to LJ when you haven't posted in... what, a day? And even then, it feels like forever. I'm behind on email and comments and posting, I know, but my internet connection at home has been screwed up for a while. Two nights ago, it wouldn't log onto the internet for a heart-stopping hour (INORITE!), by which time it was late even for ME, and then yesterday EVERYTHING worked except LJ. ASKLJDALDJLA.

2. I was so tired, anyway, from sleeping next to no hours over the last week, that I went and caught up on a bunch of sleep. So much so that I only got up at 2.30pm today. And only because I got google-pinged by [info]weazel_luv.

3. You know why? EVITA PICTURES, ZOMG!!! Oh god. I want to be in Sacramento SO BAD. In other news, I have spent the last two hours making five billion icons from four photographs. If that isn't sad, I'm not sure WHAT is. :P

4. Anyway. Yesterday was... kind of a sobering day. It was the last day for one of my best friends at work - and geez, she's only the one who trained and taught me everything I know. So we had the requisite rounds of celebration: a big lunch out, a tea party that took up the rest of the working day... as befits the sadness that is both our lives, however, and surprisingly fitting given how we spent so much of the last six years, we wound up staying at the office later than everyone else. She had work to finish (SHE's CRAZY - ON HER LAST DAY?!) and stuff to clean out, and I didn't have any plans so hung around to wait and take her out for one last dinner. We left at close to 10pm (!!!), and wound up eating all manner of unhealthy things at Chomp Chomp (mmmm, char kway teow and oyster omelette and a glass of lime juice LARGER THAN MY HEAD), then having a huge rum-and-raisin ice-cream mudpie at a teenybopper hangout nearby. I'll miss her so so much - and it's ridiculously sad, because now I am officially the OLDEST person in the desk. Well, in terms of number of years stuck in the same place, not age. (She was there a month before me.) ARGH, WTF.

5. Only upside? She's going up to New York for her masters. I'LL SEE HER IN JANUARY. :D

6. Lots and LOTS of birthdays today! :D

KATE. Have the BEST day, hon - it already sounds like you're having a marvellous time. I'm so glad we met through our mutual love of words and Katharine Hepburn. You deserve all the joy in the world, and have the MOST WONDERFUL time at Bryn Mawr, EVER. ♥

Happy happy HAPPY birthday, my dear! How incredibly awesome is it that you share Gillian's birthday?? I'm loving all the XF-related flailing that's going on now, and am SO glad you had such a great time in London. To many more years of SQUEEING to come! :D

Whee! It sounds like you're having a good time in London, HUMIDITY ASIDE. Here's to more roast duck and lots of fun in Venice and everywhere else you'll be visiting. :D

7. I'm so amused by all the pretty on this entry because of birthdays. XD

8. Oh, also! Happy birthday, Singapore. DUH. Totally forgot. ;P We turn... (oh god I had to check) 43 years old today. Clearly I'm not going to be anywhere NEAR where the crazy crowds and my brother will be. He's actually marching in the parade this year - leading a contingent, if I'm not mistaken. I think I'll just go book-shopping and lazing around instead. MUCH preferable.

9. Since I haven't posted in SUCH ages, a meme! Snagged from [info]curtains: one word at a time )

10. Pia Douwes!! ♥ [info]lfae, thank you SO MUCH for the songs. SHE IS SO AWESOME. AND SO SASSY. And she sings all these songs I KNOW, except in a totally different language. *weeps from the awesome*

11. It's RAINING. Really hard, and god. I love it. The sound, the feel, the smell of it. ♥

1. I woke up at 3pm and had cereal for lunch. I am so grown-up! :D

2. I've changed my layout! I wanted to, for a while, because the comments section on the old layout was bugging the hell out of me - grey on white, wtf?! How does this in any way facilitate comment-stalking?! But I was a lazy bum and never got around to doing anything until [info]llyfrgell mentioned that it was kinda hard on the eyes. So I decided, BAH. Let's change it. TO WIT:

Better now? ;) I have such love for the picture I used in my header. The width of the layout is not conducive to epic pic-spams, but I shall figure that out later.

3. In the spirit of lovely new things - check out my icon, and the accompanying picture of INCREDIBLE GORGEOUSNESS. Definitely brought me back to the days when all I used to do was browse through Gillian Anderson photo galleries and squeal inwardly to myself - Gillian why are you so preeeeeetty?! - yes, I was a scintillating conversationalist way back when. I cannot quite fathom that IN FIVE DAYS I will be watching TXF2. This is very, very exciting for me.

4. The lack of movies to watch this weekend has really thrown me off though. It feels wrong to not have something to see on the weekend. Bah.

5. I SHOULD go to work. I have something to clear that I should have cleared on Friday but I was lazy and went out for dinner instead. And now I have to clear it FAST tomorrow. DO NOT LIKE.

6. And I shall now go running. In theory. For a while, anyway, as I have to come back, wake my slumbering sister up and take her to town for an inordinately expensive but very yummy chicken rice dinner. Ah, lazy weekends ftw.

7. Last but certainly not least:

8. Edited to add: Uploaded the movie version of Chiquitita from Mamma Mia for [info]alex_kingston - no clue WHY this isn't included on the soundtrack, but whatever. Have at it. :)
