1. Enormously quick drive-by post to say - no, I'm not dead; yes, my life has been mostly boring (honestly, it's just been work, stoning at home, catching up on emails/comments and planning for NYC). I was GOING to go to bed when LJ conked out a while ago, but I hit refresh one more time and its back, so...

2. Went out for a MASSIVE Japanese dinner with friends - turns out I might be somewhat allergic to crabs, who knew. Basically, we were celebrating a friend's birthday, so went for a nice blowout meal. Which involved, honeatly, more king crab than I've ever had in one sitting. It came as tempura, steamed, to be cooked in gorgeously sweet Japanese soup... usually I have one pincer and give up because I'm lazy. This time I ate everything and now I itch everywhere. *weeps* It was worse right after the meal, when the crab was working its way through my system, but I'm itching even now. Auuugh.

3. I WANT. OMG Meryl and Alec, why am I not in the US on Christmas Day?? This movie is probably going to be released in my stupid country in, like, May or something horrible like that. :(

4. Speaking of movies, I did watch a couple over the weekend: Capitalism: A Love Story & Humpday over the weekend, both okay - I liked the former alright despite its sledgehammer moralising, but then again I'm growing up in a more-or-less socialist system, so I must be biased... The latter was promising but grated on my nerves after a while - really was that much bellyaching required to decide whether two straight guys should get it on for a porn video?? Too much verite for my cinema, methinks.

5. My mourning for Wonderettes continues apace... not that the show's even closed yet, and I'm going to see it again before it does, but whatever. I have done very little today except listen to various audios on a loop. Did y'all know that, aside from belting awesome, Ms Victoria McSassy Matlock is also incredibly talented at arts, crafts and painting? I'm not sure how one person can be THAT much artistic rolled into one, but she is <-- her new blog, featuring her little sewing obsession, her paintings, and on the sidebar, her Etsy store with her custom-made jewellery. INSANITY.

6. I understand from my flist that something MASSIVE went down with this week's House - certainly there is capslock spam everywhere the likes of which I haven't seen in many a month. My download is done, but I really need to go to bed and sleep off this itchiness... I shall watch and flail tomorrow!

7. ITCHY ITCHY. Bedtime...

1. Minor friends-cut has been done! If you feel I have erred (either in cutting or NOT cutting you) and/or want to be added back, please message me now or forever hold your peace! (Comments are screened and, if necessary, will remain screened for discretion!)

2. WORK IS MADE OF FAIL. Seriously now. I should not be awake at 3.07am, but I am. And I have to be back at work in far too few hours, rewriting an entire paper again. After I left at about 1am. D: D: HORRORS.

3. GOOD THING MY FANDOMS MAKE UP FOR THE LOUSY. OMG seriously there has been SOOO much random lollerskating/random flailworthiness involved in my fandoms over the last couple of days:

a. It was just Meryl's 60th birthday on June 22! :) I missed it, because I suck big time, but [info]girlie_girl_23 didn't and her lovely tribute is here.

b. Next To Normal: The Abridged Script <-- omg I howled laughing at this, especially the way ALICE RIPLEY always and only refers to herself in the third person as ALICE RIPLEY, and Bobby, poor guy. *weeps*

c. Random thought: Alice is actual going to be bereft when her FB account reaches its maximum number of users, isn't she...!? And that's coming up soon, she just needs, like, 2,000 more people...

d. Official site for Julia's upcoming show - the Cy Coleman revue. She is looking classy. David's goatee, on the other hand, amuses me far more than it really should. So who's going to see this, other than Not Me?

e. OMG the Wonderettes universe is going to expand! - I swear I flailed when I got that google alert: now we get the story from the point of view of the Crooning Crabcakes! I'm hoping it includes - other than Billy Ray - Johnny and Richie as well, so there'll be shout-outs to my Wonderettes. ♥

f. And as a perfect example of how my life is full of random lollerskaty flail, guess what show's coming to Singapore in August? CLEARLY I would rather be watching Beth in this show in Aspen (OH GOD I WANT TO GO SO BADLY), but I guess I can make do with a local production of Spelling Bee. SO RANDOM A COINCIDENCE, AMIRITE?? It's the last show I thought would get a run here, just because it's not well-known at all (usually we get Phantom or Les Miz or some such well-worn chestnut of a show, ad nauseum).

g. Also, I got this comment on one of my random House!flail posts and was ridiculously amused. I can't decide if poster was being sarcastic, LOL.

4. Also, I think I am legit insane. Today I decided to embark on a flail project of complete insanity. OMG. Details... at some later point. XD BUT THE PROSPECT OF IT EXCITES ME.

5. How is it that I am wide awake NOW, when I am flailing, but will be half-dead when I'm at work, trying to work? Urgh. I PROMISE TO CATCH UP ON COMMENTS SOMETIME IN THIS MILLENNIUM.

1. THREE DAYS. CANNOT FATHOM THIS. Even though work is starting to fall in my lap again, and I really should do some of it because so much of it is due to my sitting around doing a whole lot of not much, right now my only concern is to keep from falling ill before I have to take off for the trip. Being barred from entering the US at this point is really NOT at all high on my list of priorities, nope. OMG CAN'T BELIEVE I'LL BE SEEING WONDERETTES IN LESS THAN FIVE DAYS ALSDHSADHASLDSA ♥

2. Also, I find it hard to focus these days because all I want to do is be a huge enormous dork and curl up in a corner with my stash of X-Men comics and devour them like the good little nerd I am. Today I tried to explain to my boss why Wolverine doesn't age and has apparently been through a litany of world wars in the recent past. Nerd extraordinaire, that is indeed me.

3. Cheno is a ball of cute, I just had to say. I love that the pay-off to that interview is a nice, long, glorious stretch of Over The Rainbow. Also, I SEE HER IN CONCERT NEXT MONDAY. \o/ The excitement, it is EVERYWHERE!

4. Speaking of which: native New Yorkers, where is there a good place to snag free internet? Do I have to start living in Starbucks? (Is there even free wireless there?) I have my perfectly portable little netbook, so that's fine, but I still need to know where I can go to get net access... in case the friend I'm living with has maxed out her internet time (entirely possible). I'm also trying to figure out what the weather's gonna be like: I'm sure I can easily buy anything I'm missing, since it isn't the absolute dead of winter this time. But I'm guessing I'll need an umbrella at least...

5. MORE of alphabet meme, I intend to FINISH this before I go to NY!! F - em - L )

6. I LEGIT TALK TOO MUCH. How is it 2am already!?!? Okay okay OKAY. Bedtime... if I'm not distracted by comics, that is. XD

1. Am I posting from work right now? YES I AM. I don't give a damn. I was gonna post yesterday, but was so crazy shacked I fell asleep in bed... the perils of having a netbook, sigh. Though I guess it's better for me than falling asleep on my chair and waking up all bent and broken just to stagger to bed.

2. MY JOB FAILS SO DAMN HARD. After staying 'til 6.30am on Monday morning, went home and crashed, but went back in at 3pm and stayed 'til 1am. Then I didn't go back in until 1am the next day and stayed until 8pm that day. For NOTHING. There wasn't ANYTHING to write, or anything that I COULD write, and it was a complete waste of my time. I also discovered that what I was hoping to have happen at the end of the year - that would have given me a few months' reprieve from this hellhole - is in all likelihood NOT happening for me. So, you know, FML in every way.

3. I'm STALKING MY MAILBOX SO HARD. Still nothing as yet. Why does my mail not bring me flail, guys? WHY? D:

4. Icon meme from [info]timeofyoursong, because I like icons and I like flail and I like flailing about icons. Let me know in your comment if you want to play:
1. Reply to this post, and I will pick six of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.

flail ensues )

5. And another meme, because this one looks like crazy fun. I suspect I'm too verbose to be quoteable though. ;) Go forth and play! And let me know if you have a thread too. :)

6. Okay I should stop procrastinating and work now. I don't want to. :( I'll flist properly tonight.

07 January 2009 @ 12:15 am
1. It kind of sucks MAJORLY that I am actually sicker today than I was yesterday. I know I was JUST starting on the illness on Monday, but I was hoping that the meds would be able to help somewhat in preventing everything from going completely wrong. Well... no. Very much no. This is the most tenacious bug in the history of the universe - I pop the antiobiotics (theoretically for 12-hour stretches since I have to take one twice a day) and barely 4-5 hours later, the green gunk is BACK. I'm SO stuffed-up, although the cough isn't too bad, and I have illness aches. Like, my back, and my head at times, and blargh. I was NOWHERE near this ill in December. I guess this is my body's way of going: I warned you in December, didn't I? I CAME BACK ONCE. Well you didn't fix me then. TIME TO DIE.

2. To that end, I spent almost the whole day asleep. Got up at almost noon for lunch and meds, spent an hour trying to figure out a stupid Taiwanese website to buy tickets, watched one episode of Desperate Housewives (WHY IS IT KICKING SO MUCH ASS THIS SEASON??), and fell dead asleep again. Then I got up to go get a new ATM card (the kind that will allow me to draw money overseas, essential for upcoming NYC trip), and came home and fell asleep AGAIN. Proof that I'm really sick? I just got my hands on my brother's old laptop, which means I'm finally typing in the comfort of my bed - and I'm going to finish this post and just go to sleep, because, urgh. Sick.

3. Bright spot of the day: [info]noldoparma and I have Superband tickets! For 7 March 09. TAIWAN HERE WE COME. XD Omigod. Second-row seats in the centre block, though not dead centre as, by the time I figured out the website and its archaic log-in requirements, my ORIGINAL, very awesome seats had been snapped up by someone else. Bah. Regardless! This is going to be the year of flail...

4. I really REALLY don't want to go to work tomorrow. But I fear I must as I'm slated for a whole set of interviews in the afternoon which I THOUGHT I could make it for, but I can't imagine trying to stay upright during the entire ordeal and trying to remain civil throughout. I'll see how I feel when I get up at 7+ in the morning, I guess. Bah humbug.

5. Finally - [info]noldoparma mocked me for taking ages to write a post, as I had said I would post and then go to bed. She's right. The reason it took me so long this time, however, was because I decided to snag an icon meme from [info]fiddlings. I'm pretty sure I've done this in some form or other before, but this one has a handy icon table and is FUN. musings on my icons )

6. ARGH, WHY SO SICK. Going to collapse into bed now, sigh.

1. GUYS, I AM HOME. XD

2. And since I am home, with the internet at my disposal, apparently I don't do this thing called 'sleep' anymore. It's 5.34 in the morning, y'all. And instead of getting some REST, as I should - since I've been more or less awake since 4am Singapore time on Friday, when we got up to leave for the airport - I've been messing around online.

3. Even though I am SICK. ARGH. I didn't post on Thursday because I spent the entire day nursing a dreadful not-quite headache that had me feeling pretty terrible: even as we went to the Victoria Street Market in Melbourne, caught a flight back to Brisbane, went out for Indian food, met my dad's friend etc etc. I woke up on Friday feeling okay though... and then I got back to Singapore, and the cold/cough symptoms have steadily increased ever since. WTF.

4. I'm not sure how I'll avoid it (since I'm pretty sure that once I actually deign to go to bed and get up, I'll be even sicker than I am now), but I most emphatically do NOT want to be sniffling throughout my audio of the concert I'm supposed to go to Saturday night. Dude. I'm going to see my favourite male singer. I haven't seen him live since 2006. NOOOO. D:

5. MOVIES. Everybody! WATCH BOLT, OMG. For it is ABSOLUTE ADORABLENESS. That and other movie ramblings, no spoilers )

6. I'm soooooooo shallow.

7. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, y/y? XD I don't even know WHAT possessed me to make this batch of icons, but well... It was fun. ;) And now I definitely feel inspired to put together a fanmix of my favourite Christmas tunes soon.

8. Okay, seriously, ILL. FAILING TO BREATHE. Argh. (But, new tag! XD) I wanted very much to get back to yoga, but at the rate I'm going, I'll just have to spend the weekend in bed catching up on House (GOOD, because apparently I missed A LOT in not being around to watch/download 5x09!!) and comments and movies. TOMORROW. FOR NOW THOUGH, BEDTIME. SERIOUSLY.

1. I HAVE SO MUCH VIDEO FLAIL. OMIGOD. FLAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIL. But I will get to that later. Y'all have to promise to flail with me, plz.

2. You know what I did today? So I have the latest copy of Entertainment Weekly, yes? I was going to read it, right? And then, you know, keep it because of that gorgeous full-page spread of Meryl? WELL GUESS WHAT. I TRIPPED AND DROPPED THE MAGAZINE IN THE JOHN. WTF, CLUMSY SELF OF FAIL. God, you'd think I'd have better hand-eye-brain coordination after 20+ years trying to figure out how to use my hands. HA HA. CLEARLY NOT.

3. YOGA OF DEATH. Although I lie, a little bit. Did a hot class today. Still am a fundamentally inflexible person. But it was good. We did the same bendy-twisty thing that hurt like eff the last time and I managed to last the whole pose this, so that was encouraging. Was SO dripping with sweat by the end of it and really quite gross though.

4. AND THEN I CAME HOME AND MY FANDOMS EXPLODED. Good thing LJ is back up! If you have some spare time, COME WATCH ALL THESE VIDEOS. Because they make me ultra-super-capslocky-HAPPY. XD

5. FANGASM = HUGH LAURIE IN A TUX, DRIPPING WET )

6. IT'S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE A VERY COLBERT CHRISTMAS. Oh my friggin' god. How excited am I for Stephen's MUSICAL CHRISTMAS SPECIAL?! Yes, that's right! MUSICAL. CHRISTMAS. SPECIAL. STEPHEN COLBERT. A whole bunch of awesome words strung together to produce something awesome. He's promoting the special now, so a bunch of promos and talk shows and stuff are leaking, and WTF it's HILARIOUS AND AMAZING. It makes me want to DIE FROM LOL. I am swept up in myself )

7. AND THEN AND THEN. The Mamma Mia DVD comes out soon! So random clips are surfacing, beyond the outtakes that I posted earlier. This is a behind-the-scenes look at the filming of Mamma Mia (the song), and I LOVE IT. Meryl talks about having to climb a goat house that turned out to be "this 60-foot Mayan pyramid without the pyramid" and how she had to SING ALL THE TIME, wtf. I love that they all sang live and stuff, but man, dangerous. Plus, can we say knackering?! Last line is my favourite - "I'm going to just... dangle here for a while". LMAO.

8. I would also have Julia video to share... except it's taking forever to upload. [info]weazel_luv, be so kind as to post it in comments if you don't, you know, fall asleep in front of your computer? ;)

9. It'd be a good day. Except, yuck, work. And now it's 3.30 in the morning. Clearly my plan to sleep "early" this week is not working out for me. Or at least not when the alternative is to be flaily. Ah well. Two more days before Australia, anyway. I CAN DO IT.

1. ARGH I AM BEING EATEN ALIVE BY MOSQUITOES. Seriously. There are two that have been dislodged from their nests or whatever that are flying about and just biting me all over. FUCK. And they're NOT psychosomatic or even vaguely related to some kind of hidden passion I have for Lisa Cuddy, they are REAL. GRARGH. ITCHY.

2. What a BUSY BUSY DAY. :D I went to bed at almost 7am but got up in time to pick [info]noldoparma up for brunch at this place called Barracks. FOOD, ZOMG. We got a serving of truffle fries to start, and god, I've been spoiled for ALL french fries ever after. SO YUMMY. I had black pepper lobster linguine, and J mushroom risotto, before we shared sweet potato nibblers (crispy and coated in sugar!) and this almond-custard toast thing... I swear the waitresses thought the two of us were PIGS when we kept ordering more food, as frequently happens when we eat out together. *ahem*

3. As if that wasn't enough, we adjourned to Canele in Shaw Centre for ice cream. *weeps* Mine was all dark chocolate and awesome. :D

4. And then Madagascar 2. Which was on about 7 million kinds of crack, honestly. The movie moved at SUCH a frenetic pace, and it was hilarious and a lot of fun - but man. Weird as all get-out at points, so irreverent and just WHACKED. Got to give the writers props for picking out the weirdest little moments from the first movie and weaving them into a not-really-but-kind-of-not-coherent plot for this sequel, I guess.

5. Then YOGA. More pain and torture. I'm kind of hitting the point when it's still torture, but I feel rewarded at the end rather than stupid. Which I think I will take as a sign of improvement, y/y?

6. I totes did not buy Entertainment Weekly at the bookstore because of this. Except maybe I did.

7. And video of the day - Meryl accepting a lifetime achievement award at the Cesars (the French Oscars) in 2003:

- She gives her acceptance speech in French. IN FRENCH. Because she is CLASSY LIKE THAT. Major effin' props, Ms Streep, major props.
- I am so pleased with myself that I can actually understand her. Not just her, but Nathalie Baye as well! GO ME AND MY FIVE YEARS OF FRENCH LESSONS... ten years ago now, ZOMG. I'm so ancient. *cries* Nice to know Alzheimer's hasn't QUITE set in though.
- I love this little moment when she explains that she plays women who are difficult to like and comprehend... and then tosses a little aside - "comme maintenant" (like now) - AHAHA. No one got that joke though. D:
- Star-spotting in the audience is ALMOST AS FUN as the speech. Juliette Binoche was crying! OMG, she's a fangirl TOO! I kind of love that. Also, Isabelle Huppert. EEK. I LOVE ISABELLE HUPPERT. ♥

8. LESS THAN ONE WEEK BEFORE I GO TO AUSTRALIA. XD I just need to get through the next five days at work. I CAN DO IT, Y/Y??

9. Finally: BEING DEVOURED ALIVE BY MOSQUITOES IS EPIC AMOUNTS OF NO FUN. THEY ARE EVERYWHERE, ARGH. I am going to go and hide under my duvet now and hope they stay away. Guys, aren't you proud of me. It's 1.30am. I'M ACTUALLY GOING TO BED. \o/

1. I swear I'm going to bed soon. My back's all achy from yoga, even though it was technically a doddle of a class. I'm really soooo not motivated to work these days. I spent ALL DAY watching election coverage on CNN, obviously, and THAT made me happy. But did I work? Noooooooo. Sigh. MOTIVATE ME, GUYS. Or not. :P

2. You know how CNN goes on a MASSIVE FOOTAGE LOOP after a while? The coverage of the actual polling didn't, because stuff kept changing, but once Obama was announced as president, it went into a loop. And I think I must've watched Obama and McCain's speeches quite a few times over. Obama's speech was great, but you know what makes me more than a wee bit weepy? These bits of McCain's speech: when he says, "We fought as hard as we could. And though we fell short, the failure is mine, not yours" and also "This campaign was and will remain the great honour of my life". Awww. :(

3. Also, Proposition 8. WTF, California, WTF. Talk about a reality crash-landing.

4. Okay, no more political blather. Let's have some FLAIL instead. Everyone needs to read this parody of Mamma Mia (the movie), because it is freakin' HILARIOUS, ZOMG. I could easily quote it all day long! Sample:

PIERCE BROSNAN
Meryl, you should stop your daughter from getting married. Also, I love you.

MERYL STREEP
Oh shit, you’re going to sing again aren’t you.

PIERCE BROSNAN
Yep.
(sings)
So when you’re near me, darling can’t you hear me, SOS. I literally couldn’t sound less like a human if I tried, SOS. <-- LMAO, FAVOURITE!!!!!!!!

MERYL STREEP
Oh Pierce. I love you too.
(pause)
Except I hate you. Asshole.

PIERCE BROSNAN
This runs in the family, doesn’t it? Isn’t there a psychiatrist on this island anywhere?

5. Whoa, guys. We have an Elphaba for January 2009. She's a TV star... and has also been in Disaster Movie and Meet The Spartans. UM WUT. That is hardly a reassuring set of credentials. *cries* What if she can't sing? She needs to belt the roof off the Gershwin, ARGH.

6. Errrr... at least Ms Murney is keeping busy? I want to go for this Nov 17 Town Hall concert, argh. UNPLUGGED. Julia is awesome unplugged. As is Jeff McCarthy, who is ALSO in the cast. EEEEK. Also, this is my new favourite picture.

7. Finished tracking my Lee Hom audio! :D music man )

8. Why so much flail today, world? Clearly I am NOT AT ALL EXCITED ABOUT House/Cuddy spoilers of AWESOME. And how adorable are these photos of the 100th episode party, hmmm? Lisa + cake + Jesse = OT3, y/y? ♥

1. Okay, thanks to [info]irnbruise? I am hungry. Also way too excited about January. :P This is so not good at 1.38am on a random morning in late OCTOBER COCKTOBER... <-- click click click, you know you want to! (It's old but it's new, kind of, and what is Julia doing with her FEET.)

2. Also, my computer freakin' HATES ME. At least it's busily done downloading House 5x06 (I WANT TO WATCH JOY NOW, except, oops, haven't watched three other episodes yet!!), but it's refusing to let me do anything else with a modicum of speed or efficiency. So, multi-tasking and chatting is out. Bah. I'm not even overloading the system with iTunes and Photoshop, WTF; it just keeps FREEZING ON ME.

3. Thanks, ALL of you, for your kind words on my last entry about how my life fails a lot. I appreciate the sentiments, and would reply except computer is dying. I don't really want to spam you all with comments days after the fact though, so just.. thank you. ♥

4. I have been in the spazziest mood EVER in the history of EVER. My bosses are still steering clear of me at work, and I HAVE been doing things, but in a ridiculously inefficient manner. I just spaz or sleep or... just surf the net instead of doing the day-to-day, not really onerous things I'm SUPPOSED to be doing. For example? We're actually supposed to spend tomorrow moving to our new office, and I haven't even started PACKING yet. So I envision a long long night staying back just to pack. Feck.

5. I think maybe it's... emotional fallout from the last few months of working like a crazy person. (That's how I'll explain it, anyway, rather than using the more plausible explanation that I am a lazy bastard.) Yesterday's stupid accident did not help my mood and I really was just... argh, last night.

6. So guess what I did tonight to get myself out of that funk? I so did NOT watch Mamma Mia for the fifth time. OKAY YOU CAUGHT ME. And... WHAT. DON'T JUDGE. It made me happy. Happier than in a loooong time. Plus it was great to see it again after a three-week break. :D I'm done now though - DONE. The main reason I went tonight was that I felt I COULD reward myself with a 9.20pm screening after work... especially since it's really not going to be in cinemas any much longer, I think.

7. Moment of Cute )

8. I apologise. I get sooooooo flaily. D: Right now, I'm going to try and watch one House episode before going to bed at 3am (!!) so I can get all caught up tomorrow night. I envision icons from Joy starting to pop up anytime now (I'm actually surprised I haven't come across any yet, which is kind of nice), so I'm going to be strong and NOT FLIST TOMORROW. If you think I need to be informed of anything exciting going on fandom or flail-wise, PLEASE POST HERE KTHX. :D

1. OH GOD. My computer hates my guts. A lot. I'm now posting from my dad's Mac - can I just say I'm a retard and it took me, like, TEN MINUTES to realise that the power button is ON THE BACK OF THE MONITOR? I spent ages staring at the computer going - I bet it's something counter-intuitive as it always is for Macs. And it wasn't, the power switch was just hidden in the back. *weeps*

2. Anyway - I think every time I have an epic icon blowout and leave my computer on all weekend, it tends to rebel and not want to work for a couple of days. Piece of worthless junk, taking a break whenever it feels like it - man, I wish I could do that at work. GRARGH.

3. However - TINA FEY. OMG. The more she does those skits as Sarah Palin, the more icons I'm going to end up with. That beer tab moment at the end of yesterday's SNL = PRICELESS, AMIRITE? I need to icon that tout de suite. (EDITED TO ADD: I have absolutely NO IDEA how to copy links using a Mac, so this will have to do: check out this hilarious Facebook entry [info]alexia88 linked me to here. MWAHAHAHA.)

4. Also - since my computer is down, I figured that I could load up my thumb drive with episodes of TV I haven't yet watched and plug it into my DVD player for a tv marathon tonight. WTF - why is my thumb drive's 2GB capacity completely maxed out with just TWO episodes on there? I should be able to put at least four 350MB episodes on it, no?! ARGH STUPID PIECES OF CRAP. Now I can only watch the first 2 episodes of House. And then I guess I'll marathon Season 1 Bones or something.

5. Also, I meant to get up and go for yoga at 6pm, but I wound up waking up at 7pm. *weeps* I did sleep at almost 11am though. ARGH. NORMAL SLEEP PATTERNS ARE NOT FOR ME.

6. My computer makes me SO CRANKY. ALSKDJLAJDLAJDLSDJLAS.

1. ARGH IT'S 4.18AM!

2. I blame this on my icon-making SICKNESS. I know I just finished a batch - and spent all weekend on them too - but I HAD to make icons of Julia from her Lowdown-Down performance and so... ARGH. They're here. I FAIL TOTALLY AT GOING TO BED.

3. I watched Step Brothers - OMG. That movie was on about 17 kinds of crack. Will Ferrell and John C Reilly were just... INSANE. I fully understand why the film earned an M-18 certificate here; there were some really grossout moments when I was literally watching the show through my fingers and I was kind of mortified that my almost 50-year-old boss was THERE WITH ME. It's okay - she's ridiculously cool for her age and loves wacky stuff like this. BUT STILL. When Will Ferrell kept referencing his pubes or his mangina, I was, like, OMIGOD SITTING HERE WITH MY BOSS, YO.

4. Also!!!!! Everyone on my flist should know by now that I have spent the last TWO MONTHS waiting for Mamma Mia to open in Singapore. Because this country is made of frakkin' FAIL and refuses to bring the show in at the same time as the rest of the world. Anyway, I thought it only opened NEXT week, so had booked [info]noldoparma to watch it on Friday. But then turns out there are sneak previews all weekend! \o/ So now I have tickets for a Sunday evening screening of Mamma Mia. OMG OMG I CANNOT WAIT. SO EXCITED. XD

5. I'm going to EXPIRE at work tomorrow. Good thing I intend to spend the morning attending a seminar - mainly because, for some strange reason, Sebastian Tan, whom I mildly fangirled over here, is performing. WTF, WORK. How did you become randomly cool and employ people I want to SEE? It also means I can doze off in the auditorium and not focus on work. HOPEFULLY.

6. FUCKITY. I need the new Entertainment Weekly evidently. OH HUGH LAURIE YOU ARE SO HOT. Also, I am befuddled by all the rumours and whatnot about Lisa Edelstein being pregnant. Eh?! Star magazine is hardly the most reliable of sources - I should know, I used to read it regularly, LOL - and apparently her rep has denied the story? IDK. AS LONG AS POTENTIAL EDELSTEIN!BABY DOES NOT CAUSE THE SHOW TO JUMP THE SHARK, KTHX.

7. Why the fuckity FUCK am I still awake, OMFG.

p/s [info]vertical_chaos, I'm sorry, I GOT SIDETRACKED TODAY, ARGH. Will get cracking tomorrow later today, I promise!

1. OMIGOD I SHOULD BE IN BED IT'S 3AM.

2. I stepped on a LIZARD. Just now. *weeps* I hate hate HATE house lizards. HATE. Usually they scurry away. Why did this one insist on getting underfoot?! SO. GROSS.

3. OMG YOGA. I decided that after yesterday's stress-out/flip-out, I should go for some nice, gentle classes and chill out. So I eschewed hatha in favour of (1) restorative yoga, which they said was great for people who were just recovering from the flu etc, and (2) gentle flow - which sounds nice and simple and basic, right? That's what the class claims to be, anyway. Well, (1) wasn't too bad. I couldn't do a couple of the poses, but I didn't hurt like crazy afterwards and I did feel nicely stretched and relaxed. (2) - OMG. If by 'gentle flow' you mean 'sadistic series of evil poses meant to KILL YOU SLOWLY', then the name is bloody accurate. *sobs* I didn't expect to be quite so pwned by that class but I WAS. Tomorrow I'm going to ache all over AGAIN.

4. Tomorrow = made of FAIL and also WIN. Why? I have to give a lecture to what I'm sure will be a bunch of stupid IDIOTS who think they know a lot but actually don't. I can fake it well enough, but I HATE public speaking with the passion of a thousand suns. But, win-wise, I DO get to watch Wall-E at night, finally. FINALLY. I can't believe it took such AGES for this show to open in Singapore. (Three weeks yet to Mamma Mia, ARGH.)

5. HUGH LAURIE IS SEXY TIMES. OH GOD. I couldn't resist making a new icon out of the gorgeous. *points at icon*

6. Speaking of icons. So, even though I got home late and really need sleep, I decided to mess around with animated icons with all the awesome videos from yesterday. My anicons are pretty boring because I've made them in the same way ever since I discovered how to make them. Not anymore, however - apparently I am now moving on. Here's my first rough attempt at something different:

I'm DEAD. This is the beginning of the end - making icons is a SICKNESS, I tell you.

1. I am a lazy bugger. I woke up at... well, almost 5pm, shall we say (in my defense, I went to bed at 9am), and had all kinds of plans to run or skate or sign up for yoga classes. Suffice it to say that none of THOSE things happened. Instead:

2. I'm a big book dork and spent $130 at the Kino book sale. :D All on kids' books, because we have long ago established that I am six and therefore really grown-up. But I'm so happy with my haul! I have the entire Gemma Doyle trilogy now, since it comes so highly recommended by [info]llyfrgell, and also pretty much the whole Adventure series by Enid Blyton. Also, I had this HUGE wave of nostalgia when I spotted Anne of Green Gables on the display shelf - as part of its CENTENNIAL EDITION celebration, OMG. Then I realised I had absolutely no frickin' clue where my entire series of Anne books had gone to, and that I'd probably thrown the lot away. So I bought the full set of all eight books. O_o Pleased with my purchases, but OMG, when am I going to find the time to READ them all?!

3. I am obsessed with N2N and NEED TO STOP MAKING ICONS. OH GOD. I know this. But I can't stop! It's so addictive! *weeps*

4. I love Empire. It's the only movie magazine - UK edition - I read religiously, and it makes me happy. And dorky. Not to mention the fact that the August edition, which I've only just got around to reading, has a huge splash interview with David and Gillian. WIN. Here's my favourite bit from that interview. When asked to pick a favourite XF moment, Gillian had this to say:

You know, it all kind of gets jumbled up in my mind, but just recently, during this shoot, someone pulled David and I aside to this computer and showed us some clips, on Youtube, that fans had put together of us in various scenes. And there was an amazing amount of care and intimacy that I'd forgotten about. I mean, people always say we never kiss on the show - we kissed, like, thousands of times! There are kisses all over the place! There was a level of real intimacy between these two characters, the kind of care that you don't see very much in the real world. I missed that - and when we saw it again that day, we were totally mesmerised by it.

Ha ha, she didn't flail over Bad Blood! Which is kind of unexpected. ;) And AWWWW. For serious.

5. Monsters vs Aliens looks like awesome crack. I was intrigued by the blurb describing the film in Empire's big movie preview, and then, totally coincidentally, [info]rockcandy83 posted the (shakily filmed) trailer! AWESOME MUCH? :D I just HAD to pimp it, because it looks friggin' HILARIOUS:

Empire had this to say:
If that title doesn't hype your inner 9-year-old, there's no hope for you. A woman is hit by a meteor and grows to 49'11" - a nod to '50s B classic Attack of the 50 Ft Woman - whereupon she's conscripted into a secret government monster team and tasked with stopping an invading alien robot. Filmed for 3D and with a voice cast including Reese Witherspoon as our heroine, Hugh Laurie as a cockroach-headed scientist and Stephen Colbert as the US President ("He plays it on steroids," claims studio chief Jeffrey Katzenberg), this could be a ginormous hit. "I got very inspired when the studio showed me storyboards," says Witherspoon. "It's given me an opportunity to make tall jokes for once."

Colour me excited, OMG. Hugh and Stephen? :D :D :D Plus, seriously. The trailer is on crack. LOVE.

6. I have an obsessive personality. HA HA. HANDS UP THOSE WHO DIDN'T ALREADY KNOW THAT, AND GO TO THE BACK OF THE CLASS. Anyway. I realised that once I started watching this trailer that I was sunk. I had to go to watch all the newest trailers, which I have been doing and which also means I am unlikely to go to bed anytime soon. Especially since trailer-spamming has helped me rediscover that:

7. I frickin' adore Cate Blanchett. My flail has diminished somewhat in recent months, but god. Never let it be said that I do not admire this woman in a crazy way. Only person alive who could play Katharine Hepburn - my favourite actress ever - and not make me want to dig my intestines out through my eyes. Urm, graphic randomness aside! Have a little pic-spam of her gorgeousness from her new film with Brad Pitt, which excites me greatly - The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Reminds me eerily of a book I read a while back, The Confessions of Max Tivoli, as both movie and book are about a man who ages in reverse, appearing younger as he grows older, and the woman he falls in love with.

8. I am made of epic amounts of fail flail. Y/Y? ;) I need to go to bed now, even though I really can't since I'm not sleepy AT ALL, but I DO have to be at work on time for once... Bah humbug.

1. So. I've seen The Dark Knight. Beware of spoilers beneath the cut (though I've deliberately kept them pretty vague, IMHO, so no plot points are touched on that you won't already know from the trailer - at least they won't affect your enjoyment of the show, I think). However, there is one thing that can safely be said spoiler-free:

Frick. Frackity. FRACK. Heath Ledger was ah-mazing. I already knew from the trailer that this would be a kickass performance to end all kickass performances - well, it was that and more. He was terrifying (which was the point), and just simply... incredible. Menacing, evil, and altogether different from when you've ever seen Heath before. Un-friggin'-believable is what he was.

2. What other movie would we be foolhardy enough to open the same weekend as this blockbuster? Why, that would be Mamma Mia, of course. I won't be able to watch this for another two months because my country is made of too much fail for words. But there are pretty PRETTY promo pictures! Involving lots of half-naked men, LOL.

3. Predictably? I MADE ICONS. :P

1 2 3 4 5

4. I realise that now I've seen Dark Knight, there isn't actually another movie playing at cinemas now that I'll want to see. OMG. BEREFT. What will I do with myself this weekend?!

5. OH GOD. ONE. WEEK. TO. XF2. Tempted to take the day off the moment it premieres so I can watch it at, like, noon or something. IS THIS OBSESSIVE/EXCESSIVE/TOO FLAILY? Do I care? Not particularly. :D

6. Eek! Ace is going to be staged and possibly head to Broadway! I LOVE the demo that I have, and it looks like Jill Paice will be singing Julia Murney's part. Sweet. Of course, the news that Emily Skinner might also be involved has me VERY intrigued to see whether this show can make it big.

7. OMFG. EMMY NOMINATIONS FOR LEE PACE AND KRISTIN CHENOWETH. YEEES. WELL DONE, EMMYS, for all the PD love. Because, OMFG, you frickin' left ROBERT SEAN LEONARD off your best supporting actor list. NO LOVE FOR YOU BECAUSE OF THAT. (Edited to add: here's a video of Cheno announcing the Emmy nominees alongside Neil Patrick Harris. It's adorable how she can't stop talking, LOL. She dishes on her love life! And demands to go on American Idol!! Ahhh Cheno. I've forgotten what a sunshiny ball of CUTE you are.)

8. I am also addicted to Next To Normal. Just wanted to say that, again. Because it bears repeating. I cannot stop listening to I Dreamed A Dance.

9. ETA: Julia fans, let's play a ridiculously simple game that [info]weazel_luv *ahem* distracted me with when I should have been working yesterday! (Kidding, I totes distracted myself.) Please to be hunting through my interests on my profile to find the three interests related to Ms Murney. ADD THEM TO YOUR PROFILE. Spread the LOVE. :D

1. HAI. Let's make this the randomest post in the history of ever, y/y? Memes and random Julia bits from her Studio A Cabaret interview, because they make me happy and amuse me ENDLESSLY.

2. OMIGOD. So I'm finally tracking my boot of Kerry's last Wicked and I want to DIE from the awesome. She was. SO. FREAKING. AMAZING. Riffs everywhere, in excellent voice, and listening to the boot is like listening to a friggin' rock concert. There was just so much love and energy and crazy screaming and passion that night. GOD. BEST WICKED EVER, for me. So. So. AWESOME. Plus I'm totally grooving on the quality of this. LOVE.

3. Here's the first random Julia bit. Everyone remember the 'la la la la la la guava' moment from DQYNJ? Mwahahaha, check out this longer version - wouldn't it make an awesome handphone ringtone!?!

4. Meme the first, snagged from [info]lanafromoz! 60 random questions )

5. And before I work on the next meme, here's ANOTHER random Julia moment. I guess I'll never get to see or hear her as Velma Kelly in Chicago - how much would that ROCK - but at least we'll always have her doing the ridiculously difficult Hunyak monologue in Cell Block Tango, eh? LOVE. Plus, she doesn't know that 7x8=56, LOL.

6. I was tagged for a pic-spam meme by [info]naley_forever23:
1) Pick a hot girl... or guy... take a moment to think.
2) Is this the guy/gal you want?
3) Pick his/her top 10 hottest, cutest, most irresistible pictures.
4) Tag five other users.
5) Comment with the link to your meme.

7. And finally, to end off: I forgot how friggin' AMAZING Kerry's last was. I know, I started this post flailing about Kerry, but I have to flail SOME MORE since I'm done tracking Act I and OMFG DEFYING GRAVITY. LISTEN TO HER RIFF. LISTEN TO HER BE AMAZING. *SOBS*

8. FLAILY ENOUGH FOR Y'ALL?! That took 2.5 hours, in between tracking Wicked and whatnot, OMG!!

1. PRETTY NEW IPOD IS HERE! :D

2. Unfortunately, I have spent the last hour or so wondering how the hell to sort out the music library because mine has always been just a total mess. A MESS. And I seem to have accidentally set the iPod to sync EVERYTHING, which means even the random songs I don't want on my iPod are being loaded. WTF. How am I going to organise all of this! Knowing my insane obsessive compulsiveness, I'm going to spend the rest of the night puzzling this out, bah. How do you guys keep your playlists organised? Do you manually upload? Or just sync it and let it be? I have TOO MANY songs for that. And yet I don't want everything on the iPod. THIS IS VERY COMPLICATED FOR MY SMALL BRAIN. (Yes, I've never used an iPod OR iTunes. BAH.)

3. HOUSE DOWNLOAD 37% WTF. At least 2 hours to go. I NEED THIS TO DOWNLOAD QUICKLY.

4. SO MUCH WORK TODAY, FAIL. I actually wrote two papers today - one complex, one not so complex, and it was insanity. And I still managed to leave before 8pm. That's not bad.

5. Okay. I'm going to shower and flist while House downloads. That's ALL I have to do tonight. WATCH HOUSE. And FLAIL, later.

6: Edited to add: WTF WHAT IS UP WITH iTUNES NOT ALLOWING ME TO UPLOAD HALF AN ALBUM? The files are all MP3s. HALF OF THEM REFUSE TO LOAD. They are, like, the best crack ever. SEE COMMENTS FOR DOWNLOADS. It's only Julia frickin' Murney singing Last Five Years, kthx. WHYYYYYYYYYYYYY!?!?

7. 95% of House downloaded. ALMOST TIME FOR SEASON FINALE alsjdldjaldjasldjlasdasdasgssda!

1. HAI. So. I'm gonna start a new meme, because I was chatting with my partner in crime [info]weazel_luv about what would be our ideal Julia Murney fanmix - basically, the one album you bring with you to a desert island if you're only allowed ONE CD. Here is our thought process, when I clearly should have been working instead:

15:30 weazel_luv: i dont know what to listen to now
 me: LOL
  life is so hard.
15:31 i know!
your task is to make a Julia mix cd
  80 mins of music
and I'll burn the same one.
 weazel_luv: ok
15:32 me: this will be your definitive Julia CD. like, favourites.
15:34 weazel_luv: that's like asking me to pick a favorite child
 me: LOL
  you have to be ruthless
this is the Julia CD you'll take to a desert island.
15:35 Oh oh! a Julia FANMIX.
  so much fun.
Like, with a CD cover and everything ;)
 weazel_luv: LOL
15:36 me: Dude. I would totally make that CD cover.

So. Yeah - I thought it'd be a fun meme to do, especially if you expand it beyond *ahem* Julia, since I'm always open to new music and I'd love to hear what you guys are listening to or loving right now. (Although: Julia fans on the flist: you should totally make your own desert island fanmixes too. I'd love to see which songs of hers you'd pick as your favourites above all the others.)

RULES:
1. All the songs you pick MUST FIT onto one standard audio CD i.e., no more than 80 minutes of music.
2. Not really a rule, but it's fun: make a CD cover (front and back inserts) to accompany your fanmix!
3. No restrictions on artists or songs i.e., put together whatever you want, whoever you want, as many artists as you want.
4. BUT NO MORE THAN 80 MINUTES OF MUSIC, KTHX.
5. Upload the songs. Because I am lazy and don't want to go hunting down every single song you list. ;)
6. Comment in this entry with YOUR fanmix! :)

2. OKAY I SWEAR I AM GOING TO WATCH HOUSE NOW. NOW. EVEN THOUGH IT'S 1AM AND THAT'S JUST STUPID TALK AND MEANS I'LL PROBABLY SLEEP AT 4AM AGAIN. BUT I'M GOING ANYWAY.

1. WHY DOES THE BEST CRACK ALWAYS HAPPEN WHEN I AM AT WORK OR ASLEEP, ASKJDLDJASLDJLSJDLASA. Seriously. I went to bed for, like, just FOUR HOURS. When I got up again, flist had EXPLODED. EVEN MORE SO THAN AFTER SWEETSAUCE (WHATEVER THAT MEANS LOL!). Understandably though, for you see, I know all about the super-sexy House promos - the pictures at least, though not the tv promo (yet) - and I am ALL SPOILED FOR THOSE, AND ALL FLAILY. I COULD LITERALLY DIE FROM THE AWESOME. BECAUSE OMG HOW PRETTY AND HOW SEXY AND HOW ASDKSJALJDLJASDLAS ARE THOSE?!? FINALLY WE HAVE CUDDY IN PROMOS AND ISN'T SHE BLOODY GORGEOUS. PLUS THAT PROMO. WTF. W. T. F. KIND OF AWESOME IS THAT. I am, however, two episodes behind so am NOT leaping into any massive flail sessions for fear of being spoiled on plot points before I can see the episodes myself tomorrow.

2. It's good to have the fandom back though. Man. You guys have been going NUTS on my flist, lol. And I LOVE IT.

3. Work was made of FAIL today. Though when is it not. My boss was, as usual, full of inspirational win. I AM NOT BEING SARCASTIC AT ALL. </sarcasm> Okay. I shall NOT bitch though. Shall NOT.

4. ELTON!! YAY for Elton concert!! It was amazing - he played for a solid two and a half hours, no costume changes, just sang and tinkled those ivories like his life depended on it, which was awesome. I was surprised at how LITTLE he bantered (I always imagined he'd be the kind who would toss out wisecracks every other song, you know?), and I have to be honest - he no longer has that falsetto of his. It was pretty obvious in parts, when he either let his band or the audience cover for the fact that he can't go all high like he used to be able to. (See Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.) But he covered for it pretty well, and he was otherwise in really GOOD voice. He opened the show by singing a batch of obscure songs that I suspect you'd only know if you were a hardcore Elton fan - which I'm not - but the concert REALLY picked up once he hit his stretch of epic singles. OMG. It was cracktastic. The audience did his work for him (he really didn't even TRY to get everyone out of their seats and hyper, they just were). Bopping around to Crocodile Rock or Bennie & The Jets? GOOD TIMES. I bring my favourite songs from the concert, which are pretty much some of my favourite Elton songs ever. More flailing under the cut:

5. Funnily enough, I'm addicted to Alice Ripley's music. No big surprise there. But I just procured her songs with her band Ripley, and am AGAIN simply floored by her versatility. How does she switch from Broadway belting to folksy pop and punk rock? I DON'T KNOW, BUT SHE DOES, AND I LOVE HER FOR IT. I'm a little bit obsessed with her song Romeo now, but I can't for the life of me understand what she's singing at some points. AND GOOGLE HAS FAILED ME FOR ONCE. Anyone on the flist actually has lyrics? Or can help deaf ol' me decipher what Alice is singing? ;)

6. More work tomorrow. Saaaadfaaaaace. I'd rather stay home and flail. And I MUST go to bed now. MUST.
