1. What a surprisingly productive day!

2. I managed to get up before 2pm - 'TIS A FEAT - as I had bought myself a ticket to see Valkyrie at 2.50pm and really did not want to sleep through ANOTHER movie and waste another 11 bucks. Unfortunately, any attempt to have a normal lunch was THWARTED by the epic huge rainstorm that blew up RIGHT over town when I was walking to the cinema (having parked somewhere further off in a failed attempt to incur less parking charges). Seriously, I would have really wanted an ark right about then, though not so much the pairs of animals that would've come with. :P I had to buy an umbrella on the way just to make it to the cinema vaguely on time, and as luck would have it, the WORST of the storm would ease RIGHT after I opened the umbrella and started outdoors. Story of my life.

3. Valkyrie was... disappointingly HOLLYWOOD, given its very weighty, very worthy subject matter. I mean, I should have seen this coming a mile away and expected it: WHO casts Tom Cruise in a movie about the last, most successful (not to say it SUCCEEDED) attempt to unseat Hitler and change the course of world history? So yes, it was Hollywoodised, Tom was not awful but didn't really seem able to make me want to care about the character... and Eddie Izzard was unrecognisable in the film. I liked Bill Nighy and Tom Wilkinson though. Again, REALLY solid supporting cast. That being said, I STILL CRIED AT THE END. EVEN THOUGH I KNEW THE OUTCOME AND THE MOVIE WASN'T THAT GREAT. My tear ducts, how much more faily could you be?

4. BTW, as a sequel to yesterday's cookie-eating debacle, I am currently trying to eat a chocolate bar that suffered a similar fate. Cleanliness and maturity are kind of not happening right now.

5. Yoga after that, for the first time in almost seven weeks. Aside from being off in NYC and being felled by illness/work, I've tried a couple of times in the past week to go back... but keep getting to town too late for class. GRRR. Clearly it was not the best idea to go with a class taught by one of the most strangely sadistic instructors on offer. I've had trouble in this guy's class before, when I was already fairly run-in and could handle classes without COMPLETELY unravelling in them. Today, his favourite REST POSITION was the plank i.e., full-on push-up. SIGH. I'm already starting to ache, a little bit, and will no doubt regret this when I wake up on the morrow later today.

6. Subsequently provided an alibi of sorts for [info]noldoparma to hightail it out of her high-school reunion, and we met for Japanese at Vivocity. GOD. I've been stalking a particular restaurant there ever since I came back from NYC, but for some reason have never been able to get there in time to eat before/after whatever movie I'd be seeing. FINALLY got to have my hotate kakiage don - which is basically tempura (lightly battered) scallops and vegetables over rice. OM NOM NOM NOM. V HAPPY. I think I might be addicted to that particular dish. Then, predictably, black sesame ice cream before...

7. Heading back to mine to try our hand at Rock Band and Sing Star. *weeps* What a rockin' way to spend a Saturday night, huh? WE ARE SUCH DORKS. I held the guitar the wrong way around, and J got blisters from the drums ALREADY. But I think we might be a little bit hooked. AUGH NO.

8. Finally, I came home to Youtube, and I don't generally REALLY look at the recommendations on the front page, but I did today and they kind of amused me a lot: What Youtube thinks I should be watching )

9. How is it that I always manage to write SO MUCH about a day that really was, basically, VERY BORING to anyone who is not me?! Do not understand.

1. I'm supposed to be in bed - WAS supposed to be in bed - but have kept hanging around online for some reason unbeknownst to me.

2. Awww, RENT. Farewell posts have started to pop up all over my flist, and so I figured I might as well join in. It IS sad and the end of an era, isn't it? Whatever you might say about the show getting tired, and it no longer being as relevant or as electrifying as it used to be: there'll always be a place in my heart for this show. I remember seeing it for the first time ever in London, back when I was in college. Maybe 7-8 years ago now. I remember not understanding very much of the dialogue: mainly because I'm deaf and the lyrics just tumbled over each other in such a confusing way. But I remember loving the music, and the story, and the characters, and letting that just wash over me. I will never have the visceral connection to this show that so many Rentheads have, but I DO love it, and it still speaks to me in a way not many musicals have. I'm glad I saw the show again when I went up to NYC in June, so that I can say: you know, I managed to catch RENT before it left its original theatre and ended its 12-year run, and that's good enough for me. 3. Went to bed at 7am and managed to get up in time to meet my friends for a CRAZY expensive champagne brunch at the local Ritz-Carlton. The food was ah-mazing: I think I ate, like, seven oysters, tons of foie gras, lobster and seared tuna and just so much dessert. Oof. I didn't even really eat dinner after that, because seriously we just ate non-stop from around 1pm 'til 3.30pm or something. That's the one thing I love about Singapore - not that it's great for my waistline, but OMG. Eating as a national past-time. Gotta love it.

4. Wait, I lie. I had dark chocolate Maltesers (ARGH, NEED TO STOP), and then my younger brother turned up in my room and offered me part of the snack he was making for himself - canned tuna and cheese on toasted portobello mushrooms. Om nom nom nom. (Which totally deserves to be its own tag, given how often I talk about food on here. And so it shall be.)

5. I've been making icons all night. O_O Because I'm compulsive that way and needed to finish my Idina/Cheno ones before I allowed myself to stop and go back to, you know, DOING OTHER THINGS. LIVING MY LIFE. *weeps* I need self-control, is what I need.

6. Work is going to be made of EPIC AMOUNTS OF FAIL tomorrow. So I SHOULD be in bed. I'm not, however, because I am retarded. GOING NOW, I swear it. I apologise for being boring.

7. Edited to add, as I am clearly not in bed yet: I'm a little bit perturbed that [info]__grobanites includes Idina as an interest and not the woman whose lungs of titanium produced the G-sharp at 2:20. WTF, dudes. FAILCAKES. EPIC FAILCAKES. (OH GOD, I haven't watched this video in ages. HOW INTENSE IS THIS PERFORMANCE. I might have just proposed marriage to that G-sharp. SQUEE.)

1. MACHINES OF FAIL ARE FIXED. Here's hoping, anyway. I took the half-day off work and brought the car to two workshops - thank goodness the guy at the official Mazda dealership was nice enough to tell me that I could get a patching job done considerably cheaper elsewhere, and so I did that. For just over $50 as opposed to $450+! I kind of had to sit in the middle of a neighbourhood industrial estate and read a book for an hour and a half while I waited for said patching to be done, but well. Better that than having to go two entire working days without wheels AND pay nine times more for that dubious privilege, Y/Y?!

2. The tech guy also came and fixed my computer - hopefully - and diagnosed it as a RAM problem without my having to tell him that. I couldn't anyway, as I was having a late lunch outside when he turned up at my house without prior warning.

3. OH MY GOD, MY FAMILY OF FAIL. So I got home from the mechanic's at about 6.30pm and decided to take a nap, for once, just before family dinner. I crashed on my sister's bed as there's all manner of junk on mine, and woke up quite a bit later. I heard everyone's voices outside but figured that dinner hadn't started yet... WRONG. THEY ATE DINNER WITHOUT ME. They thought I wasn't at home and had gone out for a run or something, even though MY CAR WAS IN THE DRIVEWAY AND I WAS SLEEPING IN MY ROOM. They actually looked inside and everything (or so they claim) and NO ONE SAW ME. There was NO FOOD LEFT. I ended up eating, like, a peach and a ton of cashew nuts and drank tea for dinner. THANKS, GUYS, ILU TOO. My family is so awesome. :P

4. I am currently SO ADDICTED to the song Fancy, OMG. Thanks for that, Julia Murney. I have all five versions by you playing on a loop on my iTunes right now.

5. IDINA. [info]lissie_pissie asked if I had Idina's album I Stand and whether I could upload it, and I was, like, OMG OF COURSE. And since I did, I'll share it again with y'all. 3. My flail over Alice Ripley and Next To Normal continues to grow in leaps and bounds. I've been... stalking [info]smokeline (to her knowledge, it's okay, I'm not crazy!), and just found it insanely adorable how Alice had a bubble-letters phase when she was signing people's playbills at the N2N stagedoor. Mwahaha. She's so dorky, I love it. Anyways. I made icons with a couple random Alice/Brian ones thrown in to complete the set. Woe betide the day that I decide to try making anicons of N2N...

I did get caught on a little loop when I was linked to her performing Roxanne on 18 Jul 08 in Atlanta though... and OMFGIM. SHE ROCKED OUT. SHE TOTALLY SANG, LIKE, MY FAVOURITE SONG ON HER ALBUM. ASLDJASLDJASDSA. 1:50 FTW.


5. OMIGOD. SENDSPACE FINALLY ALLOWED ME TO UPLOAD KERRY'S LAST WICKED IN LONDON. FINALLY. AFTER WEEKS OF BEING FUCKING EVIL TO ME. CELEBRATIONS - THEY ARE CALLED FOR.

6. And I forgot to add. I watched Dr Horrible's Sing-Along Blog yesterday but could not FLAIL because I'd just posted. NOW I CAN. OMG OMG. NATHAN FILLION AND NEIL PATRICK HARRIS. ILTHEM. They were freakin' HILARIOUS. (Felicia Day, I'm afraid, not so much. Did not like her voice. Not that Nathan could really SING either, but he played his part SO well, LOL.) Now I have to go and finish watching Desperate Housewives just so I can get more Nathan.

7. I've been quite spammy enough today, no? I was going to upload audio examples of Sherie Rene Scott proving INCONTROVERTIBLY that she is the most kickass thing about the Little Mermaid as a musical, but that can wait for another day. ;)

8. Oh also. Went for a run - half an hour, well done me! - and then chicken rice dinner. The chicken rice is inordinately expensive (like, five times as much as you'd pay in a hawker centre or food court) but wtf, it was SO YUMMY. Plus the restaurant has now moved to the 38th floor of the hotel, so there's a GORGEOUS view of Singapore town from way up high. Nice. :D

1. So, after a HUGE, yummy Japanese buffet dinner yesterday night, [info]mirime and I headed home to... errr, watch Wicked. *ahem* And it was, predictably, awesome. There's something about seeing the actresses sing THAT score - that irresponsibly written score - up close, acting the heck out of it even as they're, well, screaming their faces off. This was... the second time I've watched one of Julia Murney's performances as Elphaba all the way through, and was completely blown away as always by her incredible awesome. Especially the way she looks so awkward and gangly and just plain when she first appears as Elphaba, and then somehow becomes freakin' SEXY by the end. Cannot. Process.

2. So I decided to work on a Julia-centric Wicked pic-spam... which, uh, became perhaps a LITTLE excessive. And rambly. But it was fun. And filled with much pretty! :D

WTF. At least the last show is going to be filmed and shown in cinemas so I can watch Eden and Tracie belt the heck out of Take Me Or Leave Me...

8. Edited further to add: And because we were discussing Julia's Low Note Of Sex in I'm Not That Girl, I remembered her other Low Note Of Sex in a song from The Wild Party. 1. EIGHT. DAYS. TO. GO. How can this flail be contained! And I've discovered that the prospect of this trip is doing wonders for my ability to just be all Teflon-like and allow shitty working hours and other random annoying things to slide off my back more easily than they otherwise would. I CAN'T WAIT.

2. Had a rather sobering experience today, however. My godmother - I'm not religious in the least, but my mom had recruited godparents for all the kids in the family to take care of us in case something happened to our parents - has been suffering from cancer for the better part of the last few years. She's been an amazing trooper: every time she's licked it in one part of her body, it returns somewhere else, and now she's back in ICU for another bout of chemo. Visited her with my (extremely tardy) younger brother tonight, and it was... terrible. She'd lost so much weight since I last saw her, which can't have been more than three or four weeks ago. And really, I can't imagine doing what she does - getting up after being knocked down so many times, and still she's fighting with every breath she's got. Gah. Amazing.

3. It's at times like this that I wonder - why am I doing, well, anything that I don't really want to do? Life's too short. Even if I crash and burn doing something stupid but which makes me happy... better to have crashed and burnt than stayed safe indoors, no? Sigh.

4. Onward to happier things: I have a Friday 5 for you guys today! And be proud, I've managed to whittle it down to two Julia songs out of five, as opposed to four last time. :p And hey, if you're wondering, isn't it still Thursday? NO. It's 1.06am here and I've been itching to spam everyone with these songs for a week now, at least. ;) Plus, you guys get ready-to-play samples AND downloads! :D

1. I AM GOING TO BE SPAMMY TODAY. Because I feel spammy. Lots of spammy goodness.

2. I'm actually feeling not too bad work-wise - I spent waaaaay too long chatting with *ahem* [info]weazel_luv but still managed to get through the masses of work I had on my plate, and managed to leave early enough to actually do some exercise for once. Which was nice, though now I'm aching all over. Why?

3. Because I went skating, for the first time all year, I think! I'm glad I persevered and skated my usual five laps of the track by the huge drain near my house - it started to drizzle, kind of, halfway through the second lap, and I was all, like, I'm not going to be out here to be roasted by lightning while on skates. But it never amounted to much more than a drizzle, so... it was good. Tiring, but good. Also? Guess who is a loser? I realised after I'd put on my skates and guards and everything and left the house that I had my shorts inside out. SIGH. SO CLEVER. It was night-time though, and I wasn't about to change just because I apparently don't know how to put on clothes even after almost three decades of practice, so. HEY. IT WAS NIGHT-TIME. PEOPLE COULDN'T TELL THAT I AM AN IDIOT.

4. Oh god IDINA MENZEL. *sobs a bit from the awesome* I've been waylaid by other singers since - quite obviously - but Idina was the first and gah has she ever been reminding me recently about how amazing she can be when she trots out that high belt of hers. I'm just a very little bit obsessed with her high notes in I'll Be Seeing You, which she performed for PBS' Memorial Day concert yesterday (go here to watch both songs.) And I keep forgetting how much I ADORE Where Do I Begin. Plus Idina looked gorgeous at the concert - her hair, GAH, so old-school Hollywood!! *flails a bit* Ah Idina. Why must you pwn me so.

5. I HAS NEW MUSIC CRACK FOR EVERYBODY! I promised people some Gavin & Sarah!


6. I need to stop comparing original recordings of Broadway songs to Julia's versions. Spread A Little Sunshine from the Pippin OBC just came on, and it's a fun, trilling version - but it doesn't quite have... erm, Julia's verve? Anyone who's seen her belt the living daylights out of the song and... errrr, sex it up but good should know what I'm talking about!

7. I've started reading again! YES. I love to read. Love it. But work has been so crazy this year that I've only managed to read magazines outside of work all year. FOR SERIOUS. SO STUPID. But really, no books at all, nada, zip, zero. So this weekend, when I couldn't find one of my magazines and finished another one, I started on Inkheart by Cornelia Funke. Yes, a kid's fantasy book, don't judge. It's good so far, though I'm only a fifth of the way through. And of course, being the movie fandork that I am, I had to go hunt down cast info for the upcoming movie. I APPROVE. Helen Mirren as Elinor? That should be awesome. :D I'm less pleased about Brendan Fraser as Mo, though I don't even dislike him - am mostly apathetic towards his career. Shall give him the benefit of the doubt, however. Plus, Andy Serkis as Capricorn? NICE. I haven't even encountered Capricorn in the book yet, and I'm like, dude. Andy Serkis is creepy enough for ANY VILLAIN. ;)

8. iTunes, OMFGWTF? Michael Crawford singing Reflection from Mulan is both a little bit gay and a lot weird.

9. Still hooked on Desperate Housewives. Tornado double-bill ftw!! I shall now log off - before 1.30am, shock horror! - and watch an episode before bed. :)

10. LAST THING. My scroll button on my mouse has stopped working for Firefox. Why the hell! It works for everything else in the computer, as far as I can tell. Just not for Firefox, which is driving me batty when I try to scroll through my flist. Flist: any suggestions on how to debug this!?! Apparently shutting down and restarting Firefox works, who knew. :p

1. I think I broke the one site I found online with lyrics to Sing Happy. Apparently I've been visiting it so often that it decided to just die on me. RANDOM.

God knows she's had to sing enough dodgy versions of Defying Gravity to last her a lifetime (one word: techno), so it's nice to see her sing a really poppy, lovely version of DG. Actually, the videos from this event are pretty awesome. She breaks her mike stand in Better To Have Loved, bwahaha!

3. Iconage-wise, I am finally at Act II of The Wild Party. Which means I'm just about due to icon Idina in Life of the Party. I'm hoping this won't result in 2,332 icons.

5. I have started making album art for my iPod. I am DEAD. THERE IS NO TURNING BACK. I KNOW THIS. Anyway. If anyone happens to want very simple but perfectly functional cover art for Birdland 2006 and Joe's Pub 2003...


6. I am a little bit obsessed with The Last Five Years recently. I was reading this thread on broadwayworld.com and someone mentioned that they'd put the entire musical the right way around in their playlists, just to listen to it all the way through in chronological order. Unfortunately, this involves me cutting up my versions of "Goodbye Until Tomorrow/I Could Never Rescue You", which upsets me greatly. I'll probably end up doing it at some point, though, just so I can make that playlist. Fingers and toes and everything crossed that the Jason Robert Brown concert I'm going for on Friday will be good. And that whoever sings I Can Do Better Than That - if someone sings it - can belt the crap out of that song the way Sherie, Julia and Lauren do...

7. Edited to add: No one is allowed to marry Brian d'Arcy James except me. NO ONE. I just listened to him singing Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas from his Christmas album. I LOVE HIM. AND HIS VOICE. And oh god, now I am actually looking forward to Shrek on Broadway. Even though it could very very well be dire (I am SO not optimistic that it'll be any good), at least it's him, and Sutton, and LIVE. ASKLDJADJLSA.

1. Like pretty much every day of my life - at least when RL doesn't butt its stupid head into proceedings.

2. Went to one of the BEST concerts of my life this yesterday evening - Taiwanese rock band MAYDAY! was in town for the night, and I've been to all the concerts they've held here since I returned from university. Because they are made of TOO MUCH AWESOME to be believed. They're still ridiculously young (early thirties for the most part), but so so talented. They play their own music, write their own songs, and are just... incredible live. Seriously. I always say that, if you think Singapore audiences are buttoned-down and too boring at live performances (and for the most part they are), you should get yourself to a Mayday concert. Because whenever they're here, imagine about 8-10,000 people literally ON THEIR FEET for three hours, dancing and singing and just rocking out. I'm still aching from that cardio workout - I mean, I was sweating five songs into the show! Nuts. But fabulous.

3. AND. OMG. I LOVE my new recorder. It's beautiful and lovely and it made me a lovely lovely boot of the concert. I've spent the better part of the last few hours slicing out the best songs and cleaning them up. And if I do say so myself, the recording really sounds quite good. I'm astounded by the quality actually. Best part? You can occasionally hear me and [info]noldoparma having a mini RL flail moment, or giggling or just going, "OMG OMG OMG! THEY'RE SINGING THAT SONG?!" We were pathetic. And flaily. Anyway:

4. While messing with my boot, I also started to fill out a Wicked meme snagged from [info]starhud5. I fail in many ways since I have only seen Wicked ONCE. Bah. I shall change that by June 15, though! Then I'd have seen Kerry again and SJB's last! :) Wicked fans on the flist (especially [info]alexia88, who is trying to tempt me away from sleep :P), play if you haven't already... or link me to your answers if you've already done the meme!


5. It's taken me over an hour to complete this post, wtf. And I'm still waiting for my uploads so I can link them. FAAAAAIIIIlL. I'm supposed to go for a ridiculously expensive brunch with my friends at 1130H tomorrow. I will get, like, four hours of sleep at this rate. Though I am so hyper from concert and flail I don't think I COULD sleep, lol.

6. Oh, before I forget - I'm a little bit obsessed with the new Annie Leibovitz picture of Julianne Moore, which I discovered through [info]iwant_sprinkles. 1. FLAIL. SO MY TWO FANDOMS ERUPT AT THE SAME TIME. SEISMICALLY. THIS IS INSANITY. CANNOT STAY ON TOP. BUT, AM FLAILY.

2. HOUSE. ASKLDJALSJDLASJDLASDJLASDAS. PROMOS. NEW SCENES. CANNOT DEAL. LIKE, YOU KNOW, CUDDY. WITH THE TANK TOP AND THE SEXY AND THE "PLEASE SIGN HERE". THERE SHALL BE FLAILAGE. THERE WILL BE, I PROMISE. But I'm afraid that this had to take second place to my other fandom of the moment...

3. THE RELEASE OF HQ PRESS REELS OF THE WILD PARTY OMG OMG. Thanks to the lovely [info]irnbruise, who gifted the press reels, Julia Murney and Idina Menzel fangirls across the world - well, across LJ, at any rate - have FINALLY had the opportunity to see a freakin' awesome live performance by these two ladies in what is surely one of the best musicals ever written. IT HAS BEEN EIGHT YEARS, PEOPLE. This stuff has been hidden from view for the better part of eight years. Thank god I've only been a Julia fan for two-three months, or I imagine my brain would have imploded today after finally getting such undeniably awesome Wild Party crack. Even so, I was basically a complete wreck and totally useless at work all day, but the marvellous [info]weazel_luv was kind enough to sustain me throughout the work day by posting a pic-spam of epic win (see here - warning, NSFW! Julia in her skivvies, LOL!). I rushed home like a crazy person to download and watch (and make icons, which is what I've been doing all night, omg!). MUCH FLAILING ENSUES IN TEH CUT.

1. Street Kings? Better than I thought it would be, with an ending at once gripping and totally on crack, saved by the acting (yes, even by Keanu!) and Hugh was mighty fine in it. Well, Hugh was House, really, without the stubble or limp and packing some heat (more so than usual, I mean, heh heh), but he was still good. And turned up in the show a little more than I expected he would, which was a nice surprise! I do all this for you, Hugh. ALL FOR YOU.

2. Watched RENT at work today, during lunch break. We were supposed to take an hour out to see it, and wound up watching all the way through to Idina & Tracie being totally kickass in Take Me Or Leave Me. Bah, who needs to work! Perhaps we should just form a club and watch movie musicals at every lunch hour, huh, [info]noldoparma? As you pointed out, at least it distracted us from the awful awful canteen food...

Methinks I need to see RENT this summer. How could I not, when it's still running in NYC??


3. Ha ha, maybe I will eventually end up with a FULL MP3 of Julia Murney singing I Dreamed A Dream from Les Miserables. Because man, all these little snippets she keeps doing in her various interviews with Seth Rudetsky (who is clearly OBSESSED with casting her as Fantine) are GOLD. I found another one, and put it together with yesterday's. So go crazy. Julia sounds AMAZING.

2. So I've been listening to Julia's 2007 Chatterbox interview because it turns out I am a complete total failure for not having listened to it earlier. Having listened to it now, I'm in utter agreement that I FAIL - or did, anyway - because it was SUCH a funny, fabulous interview. I love Julia's humour - she's so irreverent, and OMG so many little details about her career and everything! Like how she was deemed "too mature" to get roles for AGES because of her voice (which led to a career in voiceovers and, of course, the fact that Cocktober stays in your heart forever!!), and her dual-speed vocal cords, AND HER CHENO IMPRESSION, and how Seth kept demanding why she hadn't gone and auditioned for Fantine in Les Miz and she said she WENT, for the 10th anniversary concert, but they asked her to play Mme Thernadier!!! LMAO! Since I had so much fun, I had to slice out my FAVOURITE part of the interview, which stars Idina, kind of, and another random bit of ear candy...

3. And, random article I came across: A SEQUEL TO PHANTOM?!?!? WTF IS THIS. WHY IS THERE A SEQUEL. IS THIS LIKE NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET PART 234853 WHEN FREDDY KRUEGER THE PHANTOM RETURNS AND PERVS AFTER ANOTHER YOUNG BRUNETTE SOPRANO GIRL? WILL MICHAEL CRAWFORD STAGGER ONSTAGE IN HIS DOTAGE TO PLAY THE ROLE? WTF. Seriously. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE Phantom. But I never thought I'd see the day when sequelitis hit Broadway too. Fail. I'll reserve judgement, I guess, 'til I actually HEAR/SEE the thing. But still. SO WEIRD.

4. I went running for the first time in a week - sloooowly, pathetically slowly. About 5km though, which is pretty good, I guess. Now am STARVING. At 2am in the morning. GREAT. SIGH.

5. Edited to add: So, as I catch up on my flist, EVERYONE should check out [info]lesaut's tribute to one of the greatest actresses who has EVER lived: Katharine Hepburn. GOD. I LOVE KATE. How this brings me back to the height of my flail for her. ♥ ♥ ♥

Right. So I am at work, not exactly bored or unhappy or anything, but restless. I have to be here for hours and hours yet, since I have much to do and I can't really stay back too long tomorrow.

SHOULD I BE POSTING FROM WORK? NO.

BUT. BUT BUT BUT. WHY WOULD IDINA HOLD A CONCERT ON MY BIRTHDAY - WHEN I AM IN THE US - BUT IN CALIFORNIA? DSKJFAJDSKJALJALSDJLSKJDLSADASDA. GAAAAAAAAAAAH. [info]alexia88!!! *sobs* Isn't this terrible timing? All her promo events have been in NYC so far. :( 

Gaaaaah. I'm happy she's taking her not-tour further out, more people need to get to know her and her album of awesomeness, dammit. BUT. SADFACE. 

Flying to San Diego would be the insanest of insane things EVER. *grumps* 

I guess I shall have to make do with seeing Julia Murney live. Though that's hardly a chore, heh. 
(It's so hard for me to stay grumpy/mad these days, lol!!)

Well, not really. I should be in bed as it's 2.35 am and I anticipate tons and tons and tons of work tomorrow. *sadface*

But!!

1. It was a good day at work, even with, you know, the actual work. Because I'm still hyped up on my New York flail, OMG. [info]alexia88 and I have been chatting for ages and just being all flaily and happy. (Plus, Alex, BIRDLAND = OMFG, AMIRITE?!) Seriously, this trip is the best thing I have ever done for myself and for my mental health. I was so down just a week ago about my whole work situation, and now I'm in a ridiculously good mood all the time. Thank you, Alex m'dear, and also [info]lfae, for flailing with me and making life all good again.

2. Also got my performance bonus today! For once, I felt genuinely rewarded for all the crap and hours I put in at work. Plus, it'll pay for my June holiday, whoo hoo!! Turns out staying 'til 3am? Might have been worth it after all... ;)

3. And of course my fellow Julia Murney fangirls - welcome to all the new friends I've made because of Julia flail, hee! You guys made my week. Actually, EDUCATE ME. Tell me random factoids about Julia! I know she makes a mean pancake, lol, and that she's a native New Yorker. Did she get classical training the way Idina did? Or is she just naturally amazing? SPAM ME WITH JULIA LOVE.

4. And I shall return the favour. You WANT to be clicking on the cut, oh yes you do... yes, especially you Julia virgins out there. Because man I love this woman's voice and there's proof right here.

Work, fortunately, has gone a little quieter in the last few days - though not quiet enough to keep me away from the office tomorrow, after brunch with a friend. Sigh. But it did mean I allowed myself to get up at 3pm this afternoon (a trend on Saturdays, apparently), and went out to watch La Vie En Rose, which was much love - I want more Edith Piaf music than I can shake a stick at, so I'm heading HMV-wards tomorrow. :)

In the meantime! I was deciding between working on fic and flailing, and decided I'd better get cracking on the fandom meme started by [info]lissie_pissie that I've been intending to do for the last two weeks. Sigh. RL's a bitch, what can I say. And in drawing up my list of fandoms, I realised I have far too many to do them all justice. So I'm narrowing this down to just TV and music fandoms - my celebrity, movie and book loves will have to wait 'til another post, I guess. If I ever get around to it!

For each person/show you've really fangirled, try to find whatever it is that made you fall in love with them. Made you see them differently than you had before... like a switch had been flicked somewhere. ;) If it's a video, see if youtube has it, if it was an amazing picture or quote, upload it and post it. Whatever it was - share it. Post your "catalysts" as I like to call them in a new post in your journal.
